Holiday Hours: The X Center

The X Center will be closed on Sunday, December 24th and closed on Monday, December 25th. Normal hours and operations will resume on Tuesday, December 26th.

On Sunday, December 31st, The X Center will be open 12 to 4 pm. On Monday, January 1st, The X Center will be closed.

Winter Recreational Basketball

Recreational Basketball is geared towards introducing and fostering interest in

basketball. Emphasis is on learning the game and having fun.

Season Dates: Saturday, January 6th - February 10th, 2024. Practices begin the week of December 26th, 2023.

Open To: Boys and girls ages 3 years old (must be 3 by January 6th, 2024) to 6th grade.

Location: Games are played at The X Center and Nixa Public Schools.

Fees: Members $42, Nixa Residents $47, Non-Residents $55.

Registration: Ends December 6th. Late registration from December 7th - December 10th with a $10 additional late fee. Or until maximum capacity of 700 participants.

Toddler Time at The X Center

Join us on Wednesdays at 10:30 am at The X Center for Toddler Time! The program will feature activities like animal encounters (2nd Wednesday of each month), arts and crafts, book readings, sensory bins, dance parties, and open gym. The fee is $3 per child and kids 1 and under are free. 

GMHMA Martial Arts

Join Grandmaster Han's World Youn Wha Ryu Tae Kwon Do! The classes are for all skill levels and will focus on being patient, being polite, being alert, being brave, doing your best, and respecting yourself and others while learning martial arts.

Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Time: 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Open To: Ages 5 years old - Adult

Location: The X Center

Fees: $50 per month tuition ($60 start up cost, includes uniform, payable to GMHMA Springfield at the first class).

Pickleball

Play the fast growing and popular game of Pickleball! Open play is held Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and Fridays from 7 am to 10 am at The X Center. The fee is $5 per day and members of The X Center are free.

Mayor's Tree Lighting &

Cocoa with the Community

Join the City of Nixa Mayor to kick off the holiday season! The Mayor's Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Friday, December 1st at 6 pm at McCauley Park. This year's event will feature performances by Nixa Public Schools Choirs, CC Links CC Rhythm, and holiday crafts. Cocoa with the Community, brought to you by L.E.A.D. Nixa, will have hot chocolate and cookies. Make sure to say hello and grab a photo with Santa! The Mayor's Tree Lighting and Cocoa with the Community is a free event! 

Nixa Christmas Parade: Sponsored by Walmart

On Sunday, December 3rd, Nixa will hold its annual 69th Christmas Parade! This year’s theme is ‘Christmas in Toyland’. The parade will start at 2:00 pm. Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring the 2023 Nixa Christmas Parade! Make sure to be on the lookout for Santa who will be on the Gateway Real Estate parade float.

Parade Route: Leaving from The X Center, the parade will travel west on North St., turn right on to Main (north) to Aven and turn left (west), take Aven to Fort St. (south), south on Fort St. to Wasson (west), west on Wasson to McCroskey (north), north on McCroskey to Lorene (East), east on Lorene to Main St. (north), north on Main St. to Short St. (east), East on Short St., to Frank (south), South on Frank to Kyle (East), East on Kyle to the back driveway of the Nixa Jr. High. The performing bands will begin at the Nixa Jr. High.

Parade participants: registration will end on Thursday, November 30th. To register for the parade, call 417-725-5486 or stop by The X Center. 

Winter Break Camp

While Nixa is out of school for Winter Break--join us at The X Center for a camp full of fun and awesome activities. Please make sure to send a sack lunch and two snacks each day.

Registration: Ends December 2nd, 2023

Dates: Monday - Friday, December 22nd - January 3rd (with the exception of December 25th and January 1st), 6:30 am - 6:30 pm.

Location: The X Center

Open To: Ages 5 - 6th grade.

Fees: Members $17, Nixa Residents $22, Non-Residents $27 (per day)

Letters to Santa

Write to Santa, c/o Nixa Parks and Recreation, P.O. Box 395, Nixa, MO 65714. Please include an important event or accomplishment for 2023, a wish list, mailing address, email address, parent first and last name, and phone number. In order to receive your letter from Santa, he must receive yours no later than December 11th, 2023. 

Art Camp: December 27th - 29th

Are you busy for the beginning of winter break and need something fun for the end? Are your kids out of school and need a little art in the AM? Does your child love all kinds of painting mediums? Let Debbie Hightower, retired elementary teacher of 29 years, spend three mornings with your child being our most creative selves. The art camp will feature three step-by-step canvas paintings (one each day), ceramic painting, wood painting, fluid art (paint pouring), and other surprise creative activities. All supplies will be provided. Please dress your child in clothes that can get dirty.

Registration ends: December 20th (or until max capacity)

Dates: December 27th - 29th; 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Open To: Kids age 6 to 12 years old

Fees: $100 per participant

Indoor Garage Sale

The Indoor Garage Sale will take place on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm. Entrance is FREE to the public. Registration for booth spaces begins December 1st. Space is limited—please register early! A 10x10 space is $20 and a 10x15 space is $30. Tables are available for $5 per table. The X Center reserves the right to refuse any item inappropriate for sale in this event. No concession items allowed.   

Flag Football

Recreational Flag Football is designed as an introduction to the sport, to build on skills, and to foster an interest in football. Participants will learn the basic skills and concepts of the game.

Season Dates: Saturday, March 23rd with the six-game season

ending April 27th. Practices begin the week of March 11th.

Open To: The program is open to boys and girls in 3rd-6th grade.

Location: Games will be played and practices will be held at Rotary Park

Fees: Members $45, Nixa Residents $50, Non-Residents $60.

Registration: Begins December 4th, 2023 and ends February 14th, 2024. *Late registration from February 15th - 18th with a $10 additional late fee.

Recreational Soccer

Recreational Soccer is geared towards introducing and fostering interest in soccer. Emphasis is on learning the game and having fun. The league is open to boys and girls; it is comprised of 5 different divisions, 3&4 years old, 5 years old and Kindergarten, 1st/2nd grade, 3rd - 5th grade, and 6th - 8th grade. Games for every division are on Saturday morning/afternoons.

Season Dates: The six game season begins Saturday, March 16th - April 20th. Practices begin the week of March 4th.

Open To: The program is open to boys and girls ages 3 years old (must be 3 by March 16th) to 8th grade.

Location: Games are played at McCauley Park and practices are held at Rotary Park.

Fees: Members $45, Nixa Residents $50, Non-Residents $60.

Registration: Begins December 4th, 2023 and ends February 14th, 2024. *Late registration from February 15th - 18th with a $10 additional late fee.  

Recreational Volleyball

Recreational Volleyball is geared towards introducing and fostering girls 3rd through 6th grade an interest in volleyball. Emphasis is on learning the game and having fun. 

Season Dates: March 18th/19th through April 15th/16th. 3rd/4th grade plays on Monday evenings; 5th/6th grade plays on Tuesday evenings. The season ending tournament will be on Saturday, April 20th.

Open To: The program is open to girls in 3rd - 6th grade.

Location: Games will be played and practices will be held at The X Center.

Fees: Members $45, Nixa Residents $50, Non-Residents $60.

Registration: Begins December 4th, 2023 and ends February 14th, 2024. *Late registration from February 15th - 18th with a $10 additional late fee.
