Hello Neighbors and Friends -
We are in the midst of Kindness Week and we hope you have had a chance to look at some of the daily communications and (if you live locally) to participate in some of the Partner in Kindness activities that make this week so special.
We are sending out this November newsletter now because there are many time-sensitive things to share from our busy community. Since you have heard from us A LOT this week we will reserve some of our regular newsletter sections for next month.
I would be remiss if I did not mention our very important 2023 Annual Appeal happening this month. All of the funds we raise make these newsletters, the programs and resources we offer and the relationship connections we make possible. You'll find information below on how you can contribute (we welcome donations of any amount and EG America/Cumberland Farms will double your impact!).
We'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the Veterans reading this and to their families. Happy Veterans Day! Check out the information below to see Westborough's plans to honor Vets this weekend.
Happy Diwali to those who celebrate - we enjoyed co-hosting the Diwali Celebration in Westborough a few weeks ago with India Society of Worcester and BORO Sugar Shack (we have already met to start talking about next year!).
In just two short weeks, Thanksgiving will bring people together to celebrate the tradition of giving thanks and enjoying some good food with those we love. I wish you a table surrounded with both good food and good people. (If you are looking for others to be with this Thanksgiving, be sure to scroll down and see the flyer about the annual Community Thanksgiving in Westborough).
Yours in community,
Kelley Petralia

We are in week 2 of our Annual Appeal and we have raised $3157 towards our goal of $17,000 this year.
We raise funds to support annual programs such as Kindness Week - which are free and open to all, but cost money to produce. If you've enjoyed the communications, resources, events and/or spirit of Kindness Week this year (our 6th annual!), we welcome your contribution to make it possible.
We've made it easy with several ways to donate!
-

- Mail your check to P.O. Box 1476, Westborough, MA 01581.
Why $17,000? Because 17 is a special number to us - we formally organized in 2017!

Meet our grant sponsor - Westborough Civic Club. In their own words...
The Westborough Civic Club is a registered non-profit organization established in 1975 for the sole purpose of benefiting the Town of Westborough and its residents.
The Club is composed of civic-minded men and women from all walks of life who derive satisfaction through personal participation in addressing the needs of the town and its residents in a dynamic, social, community-based organization.
Supporting Westborough and its Residents
Every year Civic Club membership makes dozens of donations of both money and time to a wide variety of non-profit organizations and special requests. The club has donated $600,000+ since 2000.
Annual Tree Sale
Donations are funded with the proceeds from the Civic Club’s Annual Tree sale that is held from Thanksgiving weekend through Christmas in front of Hasting Elementary. The club sells trees, wreaths, and roping. It is a large sale that takes a good deal of effort from the volunteer staff. The club typically sells 1,500 trees, 500 wreaths, and 250 yards of roping. This is the club’s only fundraising activity.
The Fishing Challenge & more
The Civic Club also hosts a yearly Fishing Challenge in the
spring. The club partners with Mass Fish and Wildlife to host 150+
anglers of all ages. The club, and MFW, provide all the necessary
tackle, bait, and fishing advice. The Civic Club awards prizes for
each age category. The event is free and open to all ages.
The Civic Club also supports other events including town wide cleanup day, Fourth of July block party, holiday light parade, and others.
Please Join Us!
The Civic Club is always looking for new members. If you are interested in joining the Civic Club or would just like to learn more about the Civic Club, you can reach out to the club at: info@westborocivicclub.com
