No School - April 26

School will not be in session for Middle School and High School students on Friday, April 26.  Teachers will be attending an In-service session.

Gala Thank You

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Friday for YC’s Green & Gold Gala at the Country Club of York! The event raised over $100,000 to benefit the York Catholic Fund and our students and faculty! Special thanks to our major sponsors: Maple Donuts, Stewart & Tate, Tim & Krista Tate.

The highlight of the night was honoring the work of our Academic Assistance Center (now renamed the Academic Achievement Center) and its founder and leader, Mrs. Carolyn Obermeier (center) who received the Maria Impende Juvamen Award that recognizes those who “bestow their aid” in exceptional ways through time, talent, or treasure. Bria Schneider '18 (left) and Holly Mayer (right) spoke from the heart in sharing how the AAC and Mrs. O have been transformative in their lives and the lives of their families.

Re-enrollment

Thank you for your support this school year as we continue to offer the finest Catholic education in the area. As we transition to planning for 2024-2025, we ask that you please read the following information thoroughly as it contains important information regarding Re-enrollment and Family Customized Tuition for the 2024-2025 school year.

Re-enrollment

New this year – we have transitioned to online re-enrollment through Simple Tuition Solutions (STS)! Instead of a paper form you have completed in previous years, you will now be re-enrolling online. Since this is our first year of using this convenient process, you will be asked for more information to establish your profile than in previous years. The online re-enrollment process is easy and won’t take more than a few minutes to complete. Your patience is appreciated as we roll out this new online enrollment process. Please share your feedback with us so we can monitor and adjust.

To re-enroll your child for the 2024-25 school year, please click the button below to be directed to our new online re-enrollment portal. The re-enrollment fee is $350 per student.

Please click the button below to log into your Simple Tuition Solutions (STS) portal and complete the Re-enrollment section. Please note: This must be completed on a PC or laptop; this cannot be completed using a mobile device.

To prepare for this process, be sure to have the following items ready:

  • Student's Physician Name and Phone Number
  • Student's Medications
  • Credit card (fee) or checking account number (no fee)

Detour

Students and visitors who use Boundary Avenue to access campus should be aware of a temporary detour in front of the new distribution center on the corner of Boundary and Albemarle.  Students should continue on Mt. Rose Avenue and turn left on Wheatlyn (across from Dunkin) or continue to Vander Avenue and turn left there. The detour is expected to last through the end of April.

Current 10th Graders

The state of Pennsylvania requires all students entering 11th grade to get a health physical before the start of the 2024-25 school year.  Now is the time to schedule the appointment with your child’s physician as some offices do not have availability until 2-3 months from now.  Students who do not have a physical on file at York Catholic by August 1 will not be permitted to start the school year.  Please schedule your child’s appointment now.

Refer a Friend to YC

If you know a friend, family member, or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $250 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education. Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $250 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.  In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click below to fill out the form. If the family you refer attends York Catholic through their first semester, your family's tuition will be credited $250, spread into 4 credits applied to the months of February, March, April, and May.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the box below and allow us the opportunity to do what we love -- help to develop, nurture, and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

The Parent Referral Program is open to all parents of current York Catholic students. The tuition credit is not available for referring your own children. The $250 credit is only good toward tuition on a student's account; no cash is given, and it is non-transferrable. A referred student applies only to a new student from a non-partner school.

Thank you for all you do for our school!

Give Yourself a Tax Break!

Parents, would you like to save on your State Income Tax return? Additionally, what if I told you those savings can have a direct impact on York Catholic students? Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? If you file for, and are accepted, as a Special Purpose Entity (SPE), it’s a dollar-for-dollar reduction in the tax liability on your personal tax return. Please continue reading for additional information.

Pennsylvania now allows individuals to take advantage of EITC Tax Credits (just as businesses can) whereby you have the opportunity to re-direct 90% of your personal state income taxes to York Catholic Middle & High School.

The Special Purpose Entity (SPE) is based on tax liability, not income, therefore each taxpayer’s situation will differ. Participants must be PA residents where at least one spouse is employed or has an ownership interest in a PA for-profit business. An individual or couple filing jointly must have a state tax liability of $3,500 or more to participate. To see if you qualify for 2024, you can find your PA tax liability on Form PA-40 Line 12 of your 2023 tax return. 100% of participant contributions are distributed to the school. You have to pay these taxes regardless, so why not have a say in how your taxes are allocated? Additionally, you will receive at least a 10% personal deduction on your federal taxes. The money you re-direct to York Catholic is for educational purposes, specifically tuition assistance.

If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity to reduce your tax liability AND provide much needed assistance to York Catholic students, please follow these steps:

For more information about this easy tax donation, please contact Dave Salter, York Catholic Director of Development, at dsalter@yorkcatholic.org or 717-846-8871 x1325.
