First Sunday Breakfast tomorrow

Starting at 9:15 am

Join us tomorrow for our traditional free First Sunday Breakfast which begins at 9:15 am.

We'll be serving the usual fare of pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon. Have a heapin' helping of food and fellowship in the undercroft.

Key Changes this week

Church building locks have been changed

The locks on the outside doors to the church, with the exception of the door at the top of the east stairs to the office, were changed out this week.

Previous keys to the main red doors and lower east entrance will no longer work.

Please contact Bill Carle tomorrow (he's working the First Sunday Breakfast) if you need a key to the building. We are now logging who has a building key and to which door.

Fr. Jonathan's office has also been rekeyed and will be locked when he is not in the office. Please don't use the rector's office as a passageway to the church office. Use the door to the office located at the end of the hallway,

Warning: Phishing e-mails, texts and AI

AI allows phone callers to impersonate clergy, friends and relatives

Recently, we have heard of an increasing number of phishing e-mails and texts being sent claiming to come from clergy of the Diocese of West Missouri, including Father Jonathan. Scammers use e-mail or text messages to trick you into giving them your personal and financial information.

Scammers often use "spoofed" e-mail addresses that superficially mimic genuine e-mail addresses of individuals or businesses. So, please double-check before clicking links or downloading documents, and carefully consider if the e-mail is really legitimate. Look for spelling and grammatical errors and clues to identify spam. The victim of a spoofed e-mail address has no idea their e-mail address has been stolen and has no way to stop it. If in doubt, don't click.

New artificial intelligence (AI) software also allows fraudsters to manipulate videos and recordings found on social media to produce realistic sounding voice recordings or videos of you. Typically you will receive a phone call from someone "you know" asking for money or immediate help due to an emergency. Be aware the voice is real due to AI, but the person is not your friend or relative. Stop this fraud by slowing down the conversation. Say you will call them back. Then separately contact the person you think called you to validate the story. DON'T USE THE CONTACT METHOD GIVEN TO YOU BY THE CALLER.

Be vigilant. DO NOT purchase anything, fall victim to purchasing and sending gift cards, or give out your financial or personal information. If the spoofed e-mail address is from a gmail account, you may report it at support.google.com/mail/contact/abuse.

If you are receiving texts you believe to be phishing attempts, block the contact or phone number so they are unable to send you any more texts.

Parking Volunteers still needed

Contact Elaine Gilligan or Bill Carle

Our recent "hard work" parking cars at the Cathedral during downtown events has resulted in approximately $10,000 in funds for our parish so far this year!

The good news is there are several more big events and parking opportunities coming very soon. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help!

Please contact Elaine Gilligan or Bill Carle to volunteer.
