YEAR AFTER YEAR OUR GVBL TOURNAMENT TEAM PROGRAM WORKS!!
GVBL 5th Grade Boys win their 1st tournament championship!
| |
Our GVBL tournament teams typically begin to organize in the spring of 3rd grade year. The teams begin to play as a team in the fall of their 4th grade year. And also very typical for at least a year to a year and a half our Great Valley teams take their lumps...but they learn to play fundamentally sound basketball. Then somewhere between the late 5th grade/early 6th grade year, the losing turns into winning. Same GV kids, only they begin to buy into not only playing with their friends, but playing FOR their friends. Yep, team chemistry. Happens at every level.
Congrats to the 5th grade boys team, their coaches and the parents. This past weekend, they took home the championship of a local Premier 1 AAU tournament. No easy task. Our Great Valley team took on and beat 3 regional AAU teams with the championship won in the final seconds!

NEW UPSTART AAU PROGRAM UPTOWN AAU TURNING INTO
ONE OF THE PROGRAMS TO BEAT!
| |
Uptown's first event of the season, the Zero Gravity Battle for the Belt at the 76ers Chase Fieldhouse in Delaware, was held this past weekend. All 4 of the Uptown teams competed, going a combined 11-4, with the 15U National team winning the program's first ever championship. 15U coach Dom Davenport is thrilled with how talented his roster is, and how quickly they've come together.
GVCO is home to the newest boys AAU program in the Chester-Montgomery County area. They opened their inaugural season this spring after tryouts this past February. Uptown AAU has 4 teams competing this spring/summer season: a 17U national team; a 16U national team; a 15U national team; and a 15U regional team. All coached by a group of 7 talented and experienced coaches from the Philadelphia region. There are players from public and private schools in the 5 county Philly region.
This fall, Uptown AAU plans to expand, and host teams at the 13U and 14U level. Tryouts will be hosted at the new GVCO Community Center the last week of August/early September, with the teams playing in a set of tournaments throughout the fall 2024.

THIS IS KINDA COOL
One of the teams playing in the first Heyday Athletics Mens League here at the new GVCO Community Center was formed by former GVBL'ers Nick and Max Stillwell. Max was one of the original Jr Hoopsters way back on 2006!
GVCO has partnered with Heyday Athletics to host a set of Adult Basketball leagues. Heyday hosts leagues for men, for women and mixed league all over the tristate area. Tonight Heyday will be running its first league to be played out of the new GVCO Community Center, a men's league of teams from the area. Leagues are well run and officiated, are comprised of 8 week seasons, and economical for teams/participants. GVCO is hoping to have Heyday expand its league offerings as we move into the 2nd half of 2024.

The Mens League begins Monday, April 22nd at GVCO.
- 5v5 Ref League,
- $35/Team Weekly Ref Fee

We are asking for help from the entire Great Valley private, public and business community.

THANK YOU TO OUR LOCAL CORPORATE & BUSINESS SPONSORS OF OUR 2023-2024 GVBL WINTER LEAGUE
Once again, we have had tremendous local support for what we are trying to accomplish with our GVBL winter rec league. Without this assistance, there would be a financial shortfall for equipment, administration and facilities rental. GVBL would like to thank all those who have stepped up to support GVBL. In addition, as always please try and support these local businesses throughout the year, shopping and doing business right here at home.
