Show Appreciation for Teachers and Staff
The teachers and staff members of Franklin and Randall feed our children with learning and love, now let's feed them with snacks!
There are still some opportunities to pop popcorn at Randall or bring snacks for our staff at both Franklin and Randall before the end of the year.

We want to highlight the Franklin playground project we’re working on. The playground has recently received improvements like the 4K play area, additional shade, and a storage shed. However, there are larger issues that we’re working with Franklin to address like poor stormwater drainage, the need for more accessible play equipment, and lack of vegetation. The foremost issue is the drainage of the large paved surface. Puddles form and freeze during the fall and spring, making the surface slippery for students during recess.
We have a vision for a comprehensive renovation of the Franklin playground that addresses all these issue so students have an engaging and safe place to play. The PTO has funds set aside to assist Franklin and Randall with projects like this that are not fully covered by the school district’s facilities budget. However, a comprehensive renovation of Franklin’s playground requires substantially more money to fully address.
If you have experience raising money for capital projects and want to help, please get in touch with PTO board member Kemper Smith at kempersmith@mac.com

We hope to hold the Randall Talent Show at the NEW West High School Theater. However, that theater is currently under construction. Construction should finish in the coming months. Notification will be sent once the location is confirmed.
PLEASE NOTE - the talent show is for Randall staff and students only. There isn't enough room for more than that. We hope to broadcast the show this year using Zoom or Google Meet. More to come on that.

Reporting Student Absences
Attendance - New way to report absences via the Parent Portal
There is a new, convenient way for families to request an absence through their Campus Parent Portal.
If you have multiple children who will be absent, including students at different schools within the MMSD, this feature will allow you to select and request absences for multiple students at one time.
Entering an absence request is quick and easy, and can be done using your desktop computer or the Parent Portal app on your mobile device. Follow these simple steps:
-
Log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account.
- Select More from the Navigation area.
- Select Absence Requests.
- Fill in the required information, including the date and reason for the absence.
- Submit your request.
For a quick look at what steps to take, check out our quick guide graphic. For more detailed instructions, visit this Absence Request Guide.
Our staff will be notified of the absence. While you may continue to request absences by calling your school’s attendance line, requesting absences via the Parent Portal is an easy way to process the request from your phone, computer, or tablet.
Please note that even though an absence can be requested via the portal, it does not mean that the absence is excused until it has been reviewed by school staff. If you have any questions, please reach out to the office.

There is a Lost and Found rack located in the hallway closest to the office.
Please have your child check for lost items there. Be sure to label lunch boxes, sweaters, jackets, etc. to help us get those items back to their owner.
Unclaimed items left at the end of the day on March 22 will be donated to charity.
