Dear LaShanda,

As we close out the month of February, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you for your continued support of our mission and helping to be a catalyst for change in our communities. It’s always a busy time here at Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP OC) as we are in full swing this tax season. We are always looking for new ways to stabilize, sustain, and empower those we serve and this year we are ensuring those who qualify are also aware of CalFresh. We conduct taxes at all of our locations, including our Family Resource Centers. In fact, we are proud to highlight how we help support and empower our community members through a success story from our very own El Modena Family Resource Center below.

We thank you for your ongoing support of our mission.

With great gratitude,

The key to vibrant communities starts with healthy families. We’re so proud to share the story of one of our CAP OC community members, showing just how powerful it is to truly feel supported by those around you. If you’re interested in any of the programs mentioned below, please feel welcome to reach out or visit us at one of our Family Resource Centers (FRCs).

Her journey started at our El Modena Family Resource Center (EMFRC) when her son’s doctor suggested he begin participating in physical activities for his health. Not sure where else to turn, she found us. She received a case manager and, together, they figured out what resources we had that could not only benefit her son, but their entire family.

As they became more and more integrated in the center, she was invited to participate in the Community Engagement Advisory Council (CEAC), becoming one of the program’s most seasoned leaders and a true advocate for her community. Today, her family continues to be part of our programs, continuing to change the trajectory of their lives for the better.

With tax season in full swing, are you curious if you and your family qualify for CalFresh? If you aren’t familiar with the program, CalFresh is for individuals in California who meet the federal income eligibility requirements to receive assistance providing fresh, nutritious food for them and their families. Thanks to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) grant program we’re able to assist low to moderate income individuals, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English speakers file their taxes, each year, in partnership with Orange County United Way. Not only can we help you with your taxes, but we can also help determine if you qualify! To learn more about this essential program, check out our website or give us a call at 714-897-6670. If you need help finding out your eligibility or signing up, we’re here for you.
