Let's Talk About it: Human Trafficking on the Mid-Shore with Beth Dorman |
In Spy’s ongoing series “Let’s Talk About It” with For All Seasons CEO Beth Ann Dorman, we put the spotlight on the evergrowing problem of Human Trafficking in the five counties that make up the Mid-Shore.
As Beth Anne notes, human trafficking is a complex problem that requires a coordinated response from community members, local and state leaders, businesses, nonprofits, government officials, and law enforcement. Awareness and collaboration are key to fighting this form of modern-day slavery.
And those of the many reasons For All Seasons decided to host a special event at the Avalon Theatre in Easton tonight entitled “Connecting Our Community to Stop Human Trafficking.” Beth Anne will facilitate an informative discussion with expert panelists Thomas Stack, Anti-Human Trafficking and Sexual Assault Response Manager for the City of Baltimore; Heather Amador, Deputy Director of Victim Services Policy and Programs Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy; and Susan Ahlstrom, Human Trafficking Regional Navigator at For All Seasons.
This video is approximately six minutes in length. To sign up for the free program tonight please go here.
“Connecting Our Community to Stop Human Trafficking,”

"Old Trinity Church" A presentation by SDFM
South Dorchester Folk Museum presents:
"Old Trinity Church: What Colonial Church Architecture Can Tell Us About The Faith that Founded a Nation"
Speaker: Rev. Dan Dunlap
In terms of American architecture, historians use the term "colonial" in two ways: (1) any building constructed before the American Revolution, and (2) transplanting one's culture into a new geographical setting. This second definition often assumes that early settlers from Europe simply brought their old-world architectural ideas with them when they arrived on these shores. But does this hold true for the churches they built? Soon to celebrate its 350th anniversary, Old Trinity Church in Dorchester County, Maryland, near the village of Church Creek, is one of the oldest church buildings still used for regular worship in the nation. Perfectly restored in the 1950s, this colonial church opens a unique window into the religious context of Maryland's earliest settlers, while also making it an interesting case study to better understand the faith that founded a nation.
Before becoming Rector of Old Trinity Church, Rev. Dunlap served parishes in Philadelphia, PA; Exeter, UK; and Tomball, TX. He received his doctorate in historical theology from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, in 2001, and has taught at various seminaries and colleges. Before coming to Dorchester County, he served as Professor of Historical Theology and Worship at Houston Graduate School of Theology for ten years and as Dean of the Faculty for five years. Lately he has enjoyed teaching for the Institute of Adult Learning at Chesapeake College (Cambridge Center) in the areas of Science & Religion and Christian History.
The South Dorchester Folk Museum (SDFM), in cooperation with the Dorchester County Historical Society, presents this FREE program in its lecture series about local history. For more information about the SDFM, visit our website, www.sdfmuseum.net, or call 410-228-6175. The public is warmly invited to attend. Reservations are not needed.

TidalHealth's Free Bariatric Seminar
Start your weight-loss journey today
Are you looking to lose weight and kickstart your journey to a healthier, happier life? If so, consider attending a free bariatric seminar hosted by TidalHealth.
These informative sessions, focusing primarily on surgical interventions, also present a pathway to the medical weight loss program for those who find surgery isn’t the right fit for them.
TidalHealth’s free bariatric seminars occur twice a month, with sessions scheduled on the second Thursday at 6 pm and the last Saturday at 9 am.
Led by experienced surgeons, these seminars provide attendees with the chance to meet and engage with a surgeon before leaving the facility.
The duration of the seminars varies, typically lasting between one to two hours, contingent on the number of questions raised by participants. Patients may attend alone or bring a support person.
Attending the seminar serves as a prerequisite for entering the surgical weight-loss program. Patients cannot proceed to consultations with a surgeon without first participating in this informative session.
To register, call 302-297-2412.
