100 Days in Office/Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. I am still hoping the warm weather finally gets here. Time seems to be flying by. This month I reached my 100 days in office milestone. I couldnt have done it without any of you and the support of my amazing team.

First I will give you some greatt news of what I have been up to this last few days. We got great things happening in our ward and then I'd like to highlight some of my accomplishments as Ward 2 Councilor.

Many (if not all) ask and together with the city and DPW we are delivering. A few weeks ago I mentioned I drove by and took videos and photos of many streets that need repaving in our ward. I submitted all this to DPW and asked them to repave them. This coming week, you will see the first rounds of streets that will be paved. Fays Ave, Edgemere, Lynnmere, Bickford, and Kevill Rdare officially getting repaved. I must thank Councilor Brian Field as he also submitted requests along with mine for these streets to get repaved. Falls St, which is part of Ward 2 and Ward 3 will also get done. You will start seeing DO NOT PARK signs soon so I ask that you please cooperate so that DPW can work. I have more streets that I have submitted from all over Ward 2 that are still pending. i will continue to work with DPW to push for these streets to get done. DPW does have a budget to work around in all 7 wards so we will work as a team to get to as many streets as we can. I appreciate your patience.

Our work at Cook st has really taken off. We had a heavy cleaning day a few weeks ago where we removed half a dumpster of debris from the playground and garden. The following week we had a group of volunteers who helped us change the wood on the top section of the garden and we also build a couple of new ones. The garden is starting to look in great shape. As I said before, the green areas of the park have been underutilized for so long. Our plan is to bring the community together in this park and garden. So now that the Playground area has been finished and the garden is being rebuild, we will have many community events coming here. It is still in the works but we will have a Cook St Community Day event here in June. More coming soon but the plan is to have a Basketball Tournament that will be hosted by Kingdom Basketball and a youth soccer tournament. The Lynn health department has also agreed to join us and we will have many organizations that will be present to engage with the community as well as the Police and Fire Department.

This week we celebrated Earth Day in the city. I joined Mayor Nicholson, fellow City Councilors and School Committee Members as we visited 2nd grade classrooms around the city to talk about Earth Day and discuss littering and recycling as we presented the annual poster contest. Each student will draw a poster around the Keeping Lynn Clean theme and each school staff will chose 1 winner that will represent the school. These 20 representatives will then compete against each other where 1 winner will be chosen. The winner's poster will be displayed on a billboard around the city so that everyone can see it. Best of luck to all 2nd graders.

I would like to remind and invite everyone to help us clean the Floating Bridge Pond this Saturday from 9AM to 11AM. We will meet at the gas station at the Eastern and Western Intersection. We will provide bags and gloves. Please bring any trash pickers you may have. Floting Bridge pond is the first thing anyone coming into Lynn from Salem sees so we need to maintain it. All are welcome and please bring a friend.

Here is the schedule fro the next Ward 2 Clean-Ups

Floating Bridge Pond - Saturday, April 27th - 9AM - 11AM

Henry Ave Playground - Saturday May 4th - 9AM - 11Am

Keaney Park - Saturday May 11th - 9AM - 11AM

If you haven't joined our facebook group "This is Ward 2, Lynn," please do so that way we can share important information with everyone.
