Whole Family Approach

Housing 280 families with children

Last year, an advisory group of national experts selected CVOEO as one of 38 organizations to receive a 2023 Bezos Day 1 Families Fund grant. This generous investment brings us one step closer to ending family homelessness in Vermont and is instrumental to our newly launched Whole Family Approach to solve family homelessness.

CVOEO’s Whole Family Approach empowers families to achieve their goals and build a brighter future, together. This family-centered framework provides the tools, resources, and support needed to tackle challenges and unlock opportunities across various aspects of life.

The Whole Family Approach includes:

Family-led goal setting: Clients work with a dedicated Whole Family Housing Advocate for up to 24 months to define their unique goals and create actionable plans.

Holistic support: Clients receive personalized referrals to wraparound services, financial assistance to overcome barriers, and gain housing education, including personal finance guidance.

Long-term impact: CVOEO helps people move towards permanent housing, food security, employment, skill development, and access to regular medical care, leading to improved physical and mental health for the whole family.

Additional support: To help clients access emergency housing for survivors through CVOEO's Voices Against Violence Program and secure stable housing through the HOME Family Voucher Program.

Community Bank Challenge

Double your impact through March 1

Donate today to support CVOEO's Warmth Support Program. Your gift keeps our neighbors warm in their homes during Vermont's cold winter months.

This month, Warmth Support Program donations will be matched by a generous $20,000 gift from Community Bank. One hundred percent of donations goes directly to client services, ensuring every dollar translates into warmth and safety for Vermonters in need.

The Warmth Support Program is a vital lifeline for many during the cold winter months and has supplemented Vermont's Seasonal and Crisis Fuel Assistance services for over 35 years. CVOEO's passionate staff works tirelessly, coordinating emergency disbursements to utility companies and helping hundreds of our neighbors avert life-threatening heating crises. Beyond immediate relief, CVOEO staff offers holistic services and essential information to empower families and prevent future hardship.
