Dear Waco ISD Community,

It has been a festive holiday season filled with concerts and performances in Waco ISD. I have been thrilled to see so many parents and community members come out to support our students.

As we anticipate the start of the winter break I want to thank our community partners for all of the support you have showered on our students and staff. I see our kids benefit from things like the Montainview Elementary School outdoor learning space, fulfilled Christmas wishes, and book vending machines that our community has made possible and it fills my heart with such gratitude.

On behalf of myself and the Waco ISD Board of Trustees, we wish you a wonderful holiday season filled with love and joy.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Korteweg

Message from the Superintendent

Dear Waco ISD Community,

It has been a joy seeing so many smiling faces at our campus holiday performances. It is a great reminder of the "why" for everything that we do as educators.

This semester has been filled with an abundance of reasons to celebrate. From our more than 30 students achieving national academic honors to more than 60 student athletes who earned Academic All-State and Academic All-District honors to 40 students advancing to the 40th Annual Teach Tomorrow Summit. These are just a few of the many achievements our students have attained in and out of the classroom this year.

Another thing I'm extremely proud of is the progress that we continue to make on the 2021 bond projects. We recently celebrated the beam signing and topping out of the new Waco High School signifying the half-way point of construction. Kendrick Elementary hosted a final walkthrough at their current location and prepare to begin school at a temporary campus as their new campus is constructed. Meanwhile, Tennyson continues to see great progress on their new school. Looking forward to February, we will host a dedication at the new G. W. Carver campus as well as a groundbreaking celebration at South Waco Elementary.

We could not have done any of this without the support of our community, and for that I am grateful. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and look forward to the continuing on this upward trajectory in the spring semester when we return from winter break.

Sincerely,

Susan Kincannon, Ed.D.

During the busy holiday season, Waco High students remembered the importance of giving back by supporting Toys for Tots. The students worked diligently to collect, inventory, sort, and pack toys to benefit children in our community.
