It is time to contact Congress and Say FOCUS on Child Care!
The Child Care Stabilization Grants provided $24 billion which allowed many child care facilities to stay open during the recent COVID epidemic. This important program was part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and expired on September 30, 2023. It provided support to child care needs in communities all over the country and ensured facilities could hire and retain quality staff. With the expiration of this program and others, the child care providers and their families are facing crisis yet again.
Over the next few weeks Congress has the chance to focus on child care, but they need to hear from you! The Council for Professional Development (CDA program) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is urging everyone, to contact their Congress to urge the passing of a robust program that supports families and providers.
