Lake Shore Drive Water Main Replacement Update

Construction to replace the remaining water main along Lake Shore Drive, between Green Tree Court and Sprucewood Lane, began the week of February 12. This project continues upgrading the water main from a 6-inch to a 12-inch diameter pipe to allow for a better flow pattern between water mains. Over the past week, construction crews saw cut the area where the water main will be installed. Crews have also begun to install the new water main on Lake Shore

Drive between Green Tree Court and Spring Hill Lane. Additional information on the water main replacement project can be found by visiting www.lindenhurstil.org/projects.

Protect our Sewer System! Learn what to Flush

When you use your toilet, shower, washing machine, or dishwasher, all wastewater leaves your home through pipes that connect to the Village’s sewer system. Remember: A clear drain is a happy drain — please be kind to your toilet and sewer system. Many materials, even products labeled “flushable” or “biodegradable,” that are frequently flushed or poured down the drain can cause significant clogging problems not only in your home but also harm the pipes that connect to Village sewers as well as the Village sewer system.

Acceptable Flushable Items:

  • Human Waste
  • Toilet Paper
  • Used Water

Common Non- Flushable Items:

  • Wet Wipes (baby wipes, disinfecting wipes, flushable wipes)
  • Facial Tissue
  • Feminine Hygiene Products
  • Cotton Swabs (Q-Tips)
  • Dental Floss
  • Grease
  • Paper Towel/Napkins

Let’s do our part to prevent damage and backups to the Village’s sanitary sewer system. To learn more about the Village’s sewer system and how to prevent backups, please visit the Village website at www.lindenhurstil.org/sewer.
