My salvation and my honor depend on God;

he is my mighty rock, my refuge.  -Psalm 62:7

My salvation has nothing to do with me.  Your salvation has nothing to do with you.  That’s right, nothing.  We simply are freely given salvation.  This is the Gospel.  It makes us uncomfortable because we somehow want to participate, but the Psalmist reminds us with his words in Psalm 62… “My salvation and my honor depend on God.”  Like a newborn baby who contributes nothing to her birth and care, we as Christians fully rely on God for our eternal salvation.  In Love, our Lord gave all that we might receive all.

“The Gospel does not require anything good that man must furnish: not a good heart, not a good disposition, no improvement of his condition, no godliness, no love either of God or men. It issues no orders, but it changes man… It plants love into his heart and makes him capable of all good works. It demands nothing, but it gives all. Should not this fact make us leap for joy? … Observe that the Gospel bestows the faith which it demands”    - C.F.W. Walther

It’s time to leap for joy, and powered by the Holy Spirit, go out and love others knowing our salvation depends on God.

See you Sunday, we continue our series, UNSHAKABLE  - I can’t wait!

Pastor Austin

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
