November 2023

Dear IHSS Providers,

Our Board of Supervisors has proclaimed November as National Family Caregiver Month in Ventura County in recognition and in honor of our IHSS providers! You are heroic individuals and we are grateful for the critical work you do to help others with their activities of daily living, as well as physical and emotional needs. Day in and day out, you show up through all the joys and challenges that come with caregiving and provide compassion and commitment to ensure that others who need help are cared for safely in their home. What you do is invaluable, and on behalf of all of us at the Human Services Agency's Public Authority, we want to sincerely thank you for the selfless care you provide every day.

The Board of Supervisors proclamation for National Family Caregiver Month was given on Tuesday, November 7.

This banner is hanging in the County of Ventura's Hall of Administration during the month of November.

In observance of Thanksgiving, the Human Services Agency (HSA) offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24. We wish you a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving.

E-Hire is Back!

IHSS recipients or their Authorized Representatives will once again have the convenient option to use the “Hire Provider” tab in the Electronic Services Portal (ESP). E-Hire (“Hire Provider” option) is a self-service feature on the ESP, which allows ESP-registered IHSS recipients to initiate the hiring process for their IHSS provider electronically.

This self-service feature has been re-launched after a few months of system improvements were completed to enhance the security. Recipients will be required to enter a one-time verification code at the beginning of the “Hire Provider” process in the ESP. Instructions and guides on this self-service feature are available on the ‘What’s New’ and ‘Training’ screens under the Resources tab in the ESP.

Recipients or their Authorized Representatives have the option to use the ESP “Hire Provider” function. Recipients who are not registered with or choose not to use the ESP “Hire Provider” function can continue to request for the required hiring documents to be mailed to their residence by calling the Public Authority office at 805-654-3416. The IHSS Service Desk is available to provide assistance regarding the ESP “Hire Provider” function and can be contacted at 1-866-376-7066, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
