Stated Session Meeting, March 5, 2024
Business:
- Session approved reinstating Beverly Tipton to the Active Rolls of Highland Presbyterian Church and then transferring her to University Presbyterian Church as requested.
- Session approved the Facility Use Request of Grace Notes School of Music for use of the Sanctuary Saturday, May 4, 10:00 am – 8:00 pm, and Sunday, May 5, 2:00 – 8:00 pm.
- Session approved an updated Job Description for Pastor to be included in the Manual of Administrative Operations.
Committee Reports:
Congregational Care and Christian Education Committee
- Lagniappe Ladies met for lunch on January 9, 2024, at the Little Village and on February 21 at Zea’s. Their regular meeting time will be the third Wednesday of each month.
- Refreshments following worship are being provided by members of the Congregation each week. A sign-up sheet for volunteers for April – June will be posted soon.
- A Lenten devotional guide, Man of Sorrows, People of Joy, was provided for all to pick up or receive by mail.
Evangelism Committee
- The average attendance for January was 17 and for February 16. We welcomed 5 visitors in January. In February we welcomed a guest pianist and 2 visitors.

Finance Committee
- For the month of January, income of $5,531.82 exceeded expenses of $4,304.10 by $1,227.72.
Missions Committee
- One Great Hour of Sharing Offering will be received on March 31 (Easter). A Minute for Mission will be included on March 24.
Personnel Committee
- The Ad Hoc Pastor search committee presented an updated Pastor Job Description for Session approval.
Property Committee
- Plumbing problems in the Administration Building main bathroom and the Education Building men's bathroom are being examined and resolved.
- The leak in the portico roof continues to be a problem and a solution will be sought.
Worship
- The Sanctuary has been adorned for the Lenten season.
- Rhonda Weyhrich served as substitute pianist on February 11.
- Rev. Robin McCullough-Bade served as pulpit supply on February 18.
- Highland will hold Holy Week services on March 24 (Palm Sunday) and March 31 (Resurrection of the Lord/Easter Day). Communion will be celebrated at both services. Sanctuary adornments will be adjusted to match each service.
