Daily Lenten Offering

You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, so that my soul may praise you and not be silent. O Holy One, my God, I will give thanks to you forever.

—Psalm 30:11-12

Holy God, let my play be the road back to you. Heal the broken and brittle parts of me that are too timid to dance and too bruised to let myself be loved back together. Teach my soul to make glorious noise in praise of your presence. Amen.

Take some time to do something fun (joyous) in the middle of your day. Sing at the top of your lungs, dance, skip down the street - whatever puts a smile on your face and brightens your day!

  1. Read the funny pages! There are several comics that are humorous and meaningful. We recommend: Wallace the Brave, by Will Henry, Crabgrass, Tauhid Bondia, Heart of the City, by Steenz, and, of course, Calvin and Hobbes, by Bill Watterson.
  2. Send silly memes and animated gifs to your friends! Let them know you love them and are thinking of them with a silly penguin or a goofy cat!
  3. Watch some stand-up comedy. Nate Bargatze, Anjelah Johnson, Marcello Hernandez, Leanne Morgan.
  4. Skip the local news and watch re-runs of Cheers or Who’s the Boss?
