Daily Lenten Offering

You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger; for your anger does not produce God’s righteousness.

—James 1:19-20

Holy Spirit, I lash out before I fully understand why. Guard my heart and teach me how to manage my anxiety and fear, that I may love my neighbor as they are and affirm their belovedness. Amen.

Use your slip of orange paper to write a sentence or two about the beautiful question you asked this week. How did curiosity transform you and turn you toward God?

Don't have one handy? Divide any piece of paper (8.5x11) and fold it in half twice. You can pick one up at church.

On Sunday, we ask you to share something with the congregation. Not everyone will be able to share every week. But we hope that everyone will take the time to add a link to our paper chain.

Fasting

You are not alone in this Lenten journey. Here are some of the fasting commitments others shared with us on Ash Wednesday.

  • Single use plastic.
  • Plastic cups, bottles, and bags; reuse the plastic I have.
  • Bring my own bags to the grocery store, and encourage others to, also.
  • Turn off world news and politics.
  • Turn off the TV.
  • Fast from negative talk about political candidates and how I react to them
  • Anxiety over the political situation.
