ECAO/Suderman Electrical Estimating Training

The Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario in partnership with Suderman Estimating Systems Inc. is offering Two, 2-Day Virtual Courses designed to introduce the Principles of Electrical Estimating. Suderman Estimating Systems Inc. is Canada’s leading provider of electrical estimating courses, and their courses are “Gold Seal” Accredited with the Canadian Construction Association.

Date: March 19th-20th

Time: 8am to 4:30pm

Pricing: $1090 CAD + taxes per participant

 

Course 2 (Course 1 must be completed prior to taking Course 2)

Date: April 09th and 10th

Pricing: $1030 CAD + taxes per participant

 

Register for Course 1 and 2 at the same time and pay only $1970 CAD + taxes. A savings of $150.00

Apply for 2024 NECA Recognition of Achievement for Safety Excellence and Zero Injury Application

Members with good safety performance are now eligible for recognition under the NECA Recognition of safety achievement.


  • NECA’s Recognition of Safety Achievement Program is an elite safety recognition focused on recognizing thriving companies that excel in multiple areas of their safety and health programs. Member companies having injury rates at levels lower than the industry standard and implement company safety practices above and beyond basic compliance will receive the recognition.


  • The Zero-Injury recognizes those member-companies that have worked a full calendar year without medical aid or lost time incidents. 


If you would like your health and safety achievement to be recognized and meet the criteria of injury rates at levels lower than the industry standard or zero injuries please send your WSIB statistics to Cristina at safety@ecao.org.

The ECAO is pleased to announce the R. Hugh Carroll Safety Awards will now be a featured event at our 2024 Annual General Meeting at Woodbine Racetrack. This exciting change further raises the profile of the R. Hugh Carroll Safety Awards, demonstrating the ECAO’s commitment to promoting and fostering a positive, safety first culture amongst its membership, and the electrical industry.


There are changes to the 2024 R. Hugh Carroll application we wish to communicate, allowing applicants to submit exemplary applications worthy of the prominence of recognition at the ECAO’s Annual General Meeting at Woodbine Racetrack on June 06th.

For 2024, the R. Hugh Carroll Safety Award categories have been restructured according to company size and only size (see below), elevating the R. Hugh Carroll Safety Awards by recognizing and promoting the absolute best of the best, those who put safety first! Also, for 2024 we are including guidelines for completing the application and a grading rubric that will be used to evaluate submissions by the panel.

  • Companies with fewer than twenty (20) employees/workers
  • Companies with between twenty (20) and one hundred (100) employees/workers
  • Companies with between one-hundred (100) and two hundred and fifty (250) employees/workers
  • Companies with over two-hundred and fifty (250+) employees/workers

It is that time of year again where we look to celebrate one of our own for their significant contributions to the ECAO and the electrical contracting industry.


Past recipients were recognized for their commitment to the work of the giving back of their own time to volunteer on numerous industry committees and contributions to their respective local communities.


If you wish to honour one of your members, please find the attached 2024 application or please let me know if I can be of any help in pulling together an application for someone you feel is eligible for this prestigious award.


ECAO will be honouring the 2024 recipient in-person at our ECAO Annual General Meeting in Etobicoke on June 06th. The due date to submit the application is April 05, 2024.

Proposed Regulatory Amendments to the O.Reg. 570/05 (Licensing of Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians Regulation)

The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery (MPBSD) is proposing regulatory amendments to O.Reg. 570/05 (Licensing of Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians) to support the Electrical Safety Authority's (ESA) initiative to modernize its licence renewal process for master electricians and licensed electrical contractors.


The licence renewal process for master electricians and licensed electrical contractors was a paper-based system in which licensees would mail or fax in copies of their supporting documentation. In recent years, ESA has been moving towards digitalizing and automating the renewal process. As well, ESA is looking to move towards a digital licence for master electricians that can be stored on a master electrician's phone.
