Members and friends, we are saddened to share with you the news that our brother, Eric Schmidt, died this morning at White Oak in York. He was surrounded by his wife, Louise, and their three sons, having received the Commendation of the Dying yesterday. Eric's life will be celebrated in a service at Grace sometime in the next several weeks and he will join the saints in Grace's Cremains Garden.

An obituary and the plans for the funeral will be forthcoming and shared when they are ready. For now, we invite you to hold Louise, their sons, and their many grandchildren and great grandchildren in your prayers as they begin to reckon with this loss. May we all find our strength renewed as we look with eager expectation towards the promised resurrection of all God's children. May we further honor Eric's jovial spirit and numerous contributions to our Grace family in fitting ways in the days and weeks to come.

Wednesdays in Lent

This year, we're inviting the whole congregation to take part in preparing our Lenten Soup Suppers!

If you have a favorite soup, we hope you'll share it! If you're not as much of a cook, but can provide bread or drinks, that's great! We'll also need assistance with setup and cleanup.

Our 150 Envelope Fundraiser for the 2024 ELCA Youth Gathering is going great! 98 envelopes have been claimed!

This Fundraiser supports 8 youth and 4 adults who will be headed to New Orleans in July, along with other ELCA youth from across the USA, to learn how we are Created To Be God's people!

Thank you to everyone who has taken an envelope so far! As of today, we have received $3,919 in envelope returns, and an additional $1,000 grant! If every envelope is filled, we will raise $11,270 toward this trip.

If you haven't yet claimed an envelope, there are still 52 available in the Fellowship Hall!

Come Share Your Story with Us!

Our campus ministry (WELCM) students invite you to share your knowledge and life experiences with them. We hope to begin a “Life Lessons” series in which Grace members can talk about their life, career, faith, or identity journeys, their experiences with other cultures or global missions, or practical skills such as money management, renting apartments, job interviews, etc.

If you have a topic or experience you would enjoy sharing with students and discussing for about 15-20 minutes at an evening meeting, please reach out to our Campus Minister, Pastor Hahn at cm@welcm.org. Please provide your name and contact information and a description of your topic and what you would like to share. We hope you will volunteer. It is a tremendous opportunity to meet our next generation of leaders and share the things we wish someone had told us earlier.

Easter Baskets of Blessings

Our annual Easter Baskets of Blessings opportunity is well underway! There are several 'eggs' remaining in the Fellowship Hall to be picked, to create a basket of blessings for a senior citizen in our area for Easter.

Please create and return these baskets, along with their egg labels, by March 24th!

YOU ARE INVITED!

The adult Sunday school class format has changed. When we started in September 2021, we used The Kerygma Program to guide us through the bible. The first book was Galatians, then James, followed by Luke and Acts which we finished in February of this year.

Then, I asked the class to think and pray for guidance over which way or format they thought would work best for them going forward.

We decided on “Bible Studies on Gospel Lesson/Second Lesson” which is found in the Faith Practices Resources on the ELCA website. Basically, it’s the Gospel reading for that Sunday. It’s called” Daily Discipleship”, 2 pages long which explores the Gospel reading. It asks about ten (10) questions of the readings and generates quite a lively discussion about the passage.

I think this format will be good because it focuses on the bible reading, yet it’s current with how the bible relates to us in today’s world. Please join us as we explore God’s word and will for our lives.
