Mission Sunday
Faith without works is less than what God desires from us; and less than what God desires for us. It is through faith in action that we allow God to school our souls from their self-centered focus to an other-oriented emphasis characteristic of Christ’s witness.
We are inviting members to engage with our mission & outreach ministry as a body several times throughout the year. The first such is Sunday, March 17, 2024.
At this first event, we have a goal of the following:
- 50 Young Adult Cleaning Essentials baskets
- 15 Children’s Easter baskets
MISSION SUNDAY TASKS:
Doing a hands-on congregation outreach activity (assembling Easter and household cleaning kits) for Wellroot (formerly The United Methodist Children’s Home), assisting young people living in and/or aging out of foster care.
HOW TO HELP:
- Donate a completed Easter basket.
- See specific requirements.
- Bring it to the Altar on March 10 or 17.
- Help us make Easter baskets on March 17.
- Bring supplies to help make the Young Adult Cleaning Essentials.
- See specific requirements.
- Bring the supplies to the Altar on March 10 or 17.
- Help us make Young Adult Cleaning Essentials kits on March 17.
- Donate supplies and have them delivered to Saint Mark before March 17.

Dear friends,
It’s time for the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Annual Hunger Walk/Run again. You have been gracious enough in the past to support my efforts to raise money to feed those who aren’t as blessed as we are.
I’ve shared statistics with you in the past, but they are worth repeating:
- One in four children in Georgia don’t have enough to eat
- One in six older adults in Georgia give up meals in order to get prescriptions
- Every $1 that you donate helps to provide three meals
I would be ever-so-grateful for your help in my raising money for those who are food insecure. My goal is $4,000. Every dollar you give makes a difference — not only to my fundraising but especially to those who are in need. It is my fondest desire that no one goes to bed hungry (or without a roof over their head—but that’s another story). We live in a land of plenty and are fortunate to be able to share.
Thank you for considering helping. The link to donate is:

I appreciate your help!

2024 Pride Committee
As we gear up for Pride celebrations this year, we're excited to bring our community together to make a positive impact. To ensure the success of our participation, we are seeking dedicated volunteers to serve as lead captains to join us in organizing. Later, we will seek more volunteers to help work and participate in various activities.
Whether you have a knack for event planning, excellent organizational skills, or simply a passion for creating an inclusive and welcoming environment, we invite you to be part of this meaningful endeavor.
Your support will contribute to fostering unity, love, and acceptance within our church and the wider community. If you are interested in taking on a leadership role as a captain, please contact Noey Barrera Disler at bdfamily99@gmail.com
Let's join hands to make Pride 2024 a celebration of love, understanding, and togetherness. Thank you for your continued commitment to creating a more inclusive and compassionate community. Warm regards, St Mark UMC Pride Committee

March: Women’s History Month
| |
|
From Malala Yousafzai to Harriet Tubman to Ruth Bader Ginsberg, the world’s history has been shaped by the fearless women who have made significant advances in racial equality, civil rights, women’s suffrage, environmental change, and beyond. March serves as Women’s History Month, honoring the leaders, activists, and role models—both past and present—who have risked their lives fighting justice and equality.
Malala Yousafzai (1997 – Present)
At the age of 15, Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Pakistani Taliban while traveling home from school. The assassination attempt was in retaliation to Yousafzai’s demands that girls receive an equal education to boys. She survived and went on to become the youngest individual to receive a Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17. She has been an activist, champion of human rights, and a prominent figure in promoting equal rights for women and girls in Pakistan, bringing hope and inspiration to women and girls around the world. Her first book, I Am Malala, was published in 2013.
Ruth Bader Ginsberg (1933 – 2020)
A fearless leader who fought for justice and served America until her death in September 2020, Ruth Bader Ginsberg was an American lawyer and jurist who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 through 2020. Ginsburg was the first Jewish woman and the second female to serve on the court. She spent much of her career advocating for gender equality and women’s rights, going on to win several arguments before the Supreme Court, including the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
Clara Barton (1821 – 1912)
After risking her life to bring supplies and support to wounded soldiers during the Civil War, earning the title as “Angel of the Battlefield,” Clara Barton went on to found the American Red Cross at the age of 59. Working with influential friends and contacts, including Frederick Douglass, Barton served as president of the organization until the age of 83. Her legacy for comforting and caring for the wounded continues to be reflected through the volunteers and employees who work for the American Red Cross to this day.
