On Target for Christ:

The board has recently passed the formation of an in school/after school archery program. The program will involve 4th grade through 8th grade students. Everyone and anyone will be encouraged to participate and learn archery. The program is called NASP (National Archery in Schools Program). It is a national/world program designed to improve students: focus, attention, concentration, self-control, patience, discipline and life lessons through archery.

The next step in establishing the program is to have certified basic archery instructors (BAI’s). A person doesn’t need ANY archery knowledge. All that is required is a four hour online class and 4 hours in person training some evening or a Saturday morning and a strong desire to help a young person achieve his/her goals. Our timeline is to get our certified instructors in the next 3 months, which will then allow us to apply for grants and order equipment. We hope to have a program in place by the 2024-2025 school year. Not only will the young people have the skills and knowledge of archery, we plan on OCCS students participating in local competition tournaments with the goal of individuals qualifying for state.

If you are interested or have questions please don’t hesitate to contact either Jamie Chapman (712) 635-5449 or Doug Schuller.

Consider helping a young person one arrow at a time. Thank you for your time and consideration.
