Celebrating Earth Day

Join us this Monday, April 22nd to honor and celebrate our remarkable planet. Earth Day is a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future.

This year, we unite under the theme "Planet vs. Plastic," aiming for massive reduction in plastic production and working towards a plastic-free future, recognizing that recycling alone cannot solve the problem. Plastic pollution is a global problem demanding a global solution. It destroys environments, diminishes biodiversity, increases global warming, and harbors immense potential to impact human health.

The 2024 theme sets goals for raising widespread awareness about the health risks of plastics, swiftly phasing out all single-use plastics, urgently advocating for a strong UN Treaty on Plastic Pollution, and demanding an end to fast fashion. Join us as we work together to build a plastic-free planet for generations to come!

County to Conduct First Mosquito-fighting

Larvicide Drop of 2024 Next Week

The County is gearing up for its first routine aerial larvicide drop of the year, scheduled for Wednesday, April 24th and Thursday, April 25th. Fifty-two local waterways will undergo treatment to curb mosquito populations and reduce the risk of diseases like West Nile virus. From April through October, the County will use helicopters to drop solid, granular larvicide on hard-to-reach areas such as rivers, streams, and ponds. This larvicide poses no threat to humans or pets but effectively eliminates mosquito larvae before they mature into biting insects. In addition to aerial efforts, Vector Control officials urge residents to eliminate standing water around their homes to prevent mosquito breeding.
