Towards a More Mature Machine Learning Lifecycle

This month, my business colleague and friend, Ranjan Bhattacharya wrote a guest blog post on the Cirrostratus Group blog. Ranjan is a senior technology leader from Boston who has built and led technology teams to build innovative SaaS solutions, several of them incorporating Data Science/Machine Learning.

SaaS software providers and their customers face many challenges in developing mature and maintainable Machine Learning solutions and many of these operational challenges are different than deploying software. Gartner has just released their Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms. The above blog post talked about the process for the Machine Learning lifecycle and this Magic Quadrant is about the tools for managing the Machine Learning Lifecycle. These tools include platforms and software for a full range of expertise, from sophisticated developers to citizen data scientists. Some of the tools are appropriate, particularly the cloud based tools, for incorporating into your product. You can get this Magic Quadrant free at Dataiku, one of the companies in the leaders quadrant. This market is moving quickly and this is a great way to get an understanding of the major providers.
