SERVE DAY will target Lilburn Cooperative Ministry and Christian City
On Sunday, March 24, right after our worship service, the MC3 family will volunteer for a work assignment at Lilburn Cooperative Ministry and make Easter baskets for young adults at Christian City.
All volunteers will be treated to lunch. Here's what to expect.
Lilburn Co-op Work Day
Our volunteers will spend about two hours painting at the co-op's office located at 5329 Five Forks Trickum Rd SW, Lilburn, GA 30047.
Lilburn Co-op has been one of MC3's longtime mission partners. We often refer those in need to the co-op for needed resources, and we support the organization with various food drives throughout the year. SERVE DAY will provide an opportunity to give back in a more hands-on way.
Christian City
We will assemble 19 baskets for young adults (ages 18-24) at Christian City, a missions partner our church helped found almost 50 years ago. The work will be done in the church café.
The baskets will be given to 11 young women and eight young men who are part of Christian City's new THRIVE program. THRIVE provides housing, supportive services and appropriate supervision for young adults who have aged out of the foster care system.
“More than 40 percent of foster kids who have aged out of the system become homeless within a year," said Christian City's Dan Garrett. "Many won’t be able to find a job and some fall prey to substance abuse. We're excited about what THRIVE can do to have a positive impact on these lives. Many of them did not have a great growing-up experience and may have missed some of the fun associated with holidays such as Easter."
