Welcome to the November edition of the Local Administrative Advisor (LAA) Connection Newsletter! I have been working with many of you to help wrap up subdivision ordinance updates. If your city or town needs assistance in the adoption process, or would like supportive policies or forms to help process new subdivision applications, please reach out to me to discuss what your municipality may need. Please be reminded that the deadline to adopt your entity's subdivision ordinance update is December 31, 2024.


Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in the WFRC/ULCT regional event that was originally scheduled for November 6. You can look forward to an enhanced program that will include expanded training opportunities and a comprehensive legislative preview. We'll be sharing detailed registration information soon for a rescheduled event in early 2025. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work to provide the most valuable experience for the LAA communities statewide.



State of Utah Infrastructure Coordination Portal

If you haven't already, make sure to bookmark the State of Utah's Infrastructure Coordination Portal (ICP). If you applying for a federal funding opportunity and require a letter of support from the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget, the ICP is where you will submit your entity's request form. Visit the portal to view all federal infrastructure grant opportunities and to read the Utah Grant Playbook.


GOEO Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Grant - Closes December 21

The Utah Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO)'s BEAD grant prioritizes unserved locations with no internet access or access to internet speeds under 25/3 Mbps and underserved locations with access to internet speeds under 100/20 Mbps. Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation Grant Workshop - December 12

The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation (DOR) offers a range of funding opportunities to local governments, including the Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant (UORG), the Recreation Restoration Infrastructure Grant (RRI), the OHV Recreation Grant (OHVR), the Recreation Trails Program (RTP), the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), and Utah Boating Grants. DOR is hosting a free workshop in Salt Lake City to help you learn about eligibility, funding amounts, how to craft a compelling grant application, and how to braid funding from multiple sources to maximize your project’s impact. Whether you’re in the planning phase or already developing your project, they can help provide insights on how to submit strong, competitive applications. State of Utah Uniform Accounting Manual & FY 26 Budget Assistance Available

As your entity begins the budgeting process for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, you may utilize the Office of the State Auditor's Uniform Accounting Manual to help navigate the fundamentals of governmental accounting and budgeting. Don't Die in a Ditch! Confined Space Entry and Trench Safety Training - December 3

The Utah Local Governments Trust is offering a 2-hour training to present the hazards associated with confined space entry and trenching operations, and the controls you have to have in place to keep you alive and safe. This training is eligible for CEU credits for water and waste water operators.
