Underrepresented Cadet Aero Networking

INTRODUCING! Underrepresented Cadet Aero Networking (UCAN). We are offering a new opportunity for cadets, fully funded by the U.S. Air Force.

UCAN is designed to empower and inspire cadets from historically underrepresented, underserved, and under resourced communities within Civil Air Patrol. Our motto, "See it to be it," really represents the core purpose of this program. This will provide cadets with the opportunity to converse with professionals from shared identity groups. This initiative will help these cadets be inspired and encouraged to pursue careers in aero-related fields.

Additionally, we will need senior member volunteers who would like to serve as chaperones and activity directors for these activities.

Check out the information below and be one of the first cadets or senior members to experience this great opportunity. With your help we can get this program running!

About Underrepresented Cadet Aero Networking (UCAN)

UCAN's Mission

UCAN aims to connect cadets from historically underrepresented, underserved, and under resourced communities with professionals in aerospace-related fields. UCAN does this by sending cadets to a nationally recognized conference and connecting them with a mentor.

America’s STEM workforce is in desperate need of a new generation of individuals. The U.S. Air Force has recognized this problem and has passed this on to CAP. Through their funding and your participation, we can accomplish this mission.

Our goal is to provide cadets with valuable opportunities to gain experience from, network with, and be inspired by accomplished individuals in the aerospace industry with whom they have shared identities and lived experiences.

The hope is that through their engagement with this program cadets will find their future selves in today’s leaders.

UCAN Overview

  • 20 cadets per conference will be selected from the pool of applicants.

  • 1 Activity director per conference will work with a CAP NHQ coordinator to assist with planning and organizing.

  • Approximately 3 adult chaperones per conference will be needed.

  • When selecting Activity Directors and adult chaperones, preference for selection, will be given to individuals that are in a professional field related to the conference and/or live close by to the conference.

  • Airfare, food, hotel accommodations, and conference costs for all participants will be covered by the U.S. Air Force.

  • This is not a NCSA and does not come with an award/ribbon for the uniform.
