  • JOURNAL: From Rev. angel Kyodo williams: What is your very first memory of realizing there was a thing called “race,” that a certain group of people were to be treated differently based upon their racial identity? Describe the situation–the place, people involved, your age, how it made you feel, etc. If you'd like, please share it with us at dikerrigan@listenlearnact.org

  • LEARN: “We’re in the Process of Mass Forgetting.” We must stay engaged and active. This Slate article explains why.

  • WATCH: HBO series, “Murder in Boston: Roots, Rampage, and Reckoning,” the story of Charles Stuart who shot and killed his pregnant wife then told police that a Black male had done it. Racial violence naturally followed. Here is a link to the trailer: Murder In Boston: Roots, Rampage & Reckoning
  • For those who don’t have HBO or want to dive deeper in the Charles Stuart case, listen to this Podcast “Setting the Record Straight: Murder in Boston, The Untold Story of the Charles and Carol Stuart Shooting,” or read History.com's Essay on this case.

  • ATTEND: The Food Justice Summit, hosted by the Kentucky Interfaith Network, a gathering of diverse individuals working together to address food security in our community. We often receive ARC recommendations from group members which we appreciate enormously. Here are a few of the recent suggestions:

  • READ: (from Julie Holman) Joe Gerth on Daniel Cameron’s new job: Daniel Cameron is now CEO of a group called the 1792 Exchange. It wasn't a good year for Black people. Gerth

  • VISIT: (from Sharon Nesmith) Mark your calendar for a February 24th event at Camp Nelson National Monument, 6614 Old Danville Road Loop 2, Nicholasville, KY. Ronald Wilford Blair, Historian, will give a presentation on “Wild Wolf: Colonel Frank Wilford: The Man, Kentucky, and the Black Enlistment Controversy” followed by a walk around the grounds. More here: Info

  • WRITE: (from Helen Deines): “I will write today to the governor of North Carolina…petitioning their office to exonerate the two men (then boys) James Hanover Thompson and David “Fuzzy” Simpson who were falsely incarcerated/institutionalized throughout their childhood in "The Kissing Case." I will ask that they be paid restitution for the many ways in which their lives were destroyed.” This seems a good suggestion for us all! North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper: https://governor.nc.gov/contact. (To refresh your memory on “The Kissing Case”: Click here -- Thank you to LLA member Dr. Peter Lauf who originally suggested learning about this incident.)

  • SUBSCRIBE: (from Sue Tongberg): To the free Anti-Racism Daily newsletter to keep up on news and events, and to learn how to build a more inclusive community. Subscribe here

  • CREATE your own anti-racism activity. If you like, please share it with us at dikerrigan@listenlearnact.org so we can pass the idea on to others.
