Dr. Etienne has worked in private practice, academia, military medicine, and in austere low-resource settings. He is associate professor of neurology and medicine at New York Medical College (NYMC), where he also serves as Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion and Associate Dean for Student Affairs. He is Chief of Neurology at WMCHealth’s Good Samaritan Hospital, past President of the New York State Neurological Society, and he is board-certified in neurology, epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology, brain injury medicine and public health. Dr. Etienne was the founding director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, he is currently the Chief Medical Officer for a major Command in the US Navy Reserves and in May will become the inaugural Executive Officer for the USNS Comfort Augment Unit. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University, MD from NYMC, and an MPH from Columbia University. He did his residency and fellowship training at Columbia University. Dr. Etienne is passionate about mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals to show them how to provide culturally humble care for our increasingly diverse patient population.
