Guest Spotlight

"The Ballard House has been a Godsend for myself & my husband. We found the Ballard House to be a beautiful place, much like a hill country resort in a quiet & peaceful neighborhood, without the hustle & bustle of the city. Inside, there are always kind & caring volunteers with friendly greetings & engaging conversations. There were others on the same cancer journey to engage with. Many of us were mad, sad & scared. Somehow these connections helped to get us through the rough spots & switch our minds off of our battle with cancer. We made connections with new found friends, with something in common. The Ballard House has been our refuge in so many ways. Everything you could need was provided, from a soft bed to sleep on in a beautiful decorated room, a hot delicious meals prepared & service by members of the community, in house laundry facilities & much, much more. We will be forever indebted to all the giving & caring people to make Ballard House a home for those who need all it has to offer."

"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at The Ballard House. For me, it is a meaningful way to spend my time by contributing to the good work being done here.

Volunteering at Ballard is meaningful to me because of the difference it makes in so many lives. There is a special bond built among many guests and sometimes I get to see that and am reminded that Ballard is not only providing a place to stay, but also a place to meet others in similar situations and find community. The House is well-supported by the community and the atmosphere is one of kindness and joy. It’s a pleasure to come each week and be a part."

"We are overwhelmed by our experience here at The Ballard House - it was fantastic - and so much more than we ever imagined. The love of God we feel here could not be more comforting. The staff and volunteers were so kind, generous and caring. This is absolutely an amazing place/refuge and we feel so blessed to have found it. The generosity of all involved have us crying happy tears. How can we ever thank you enough!! Not having to worry about food and meals was such a surprise and treasure. And the friendships we've made with other patients will be for life. They have been life changing."
