Young Adult Transition Workshop


This 5-part workshop provides information and resources to parents and young adults ages 15 to 19 with disabilities. At this time, the sessions are available to families in the Sioux Falls School District and surrounding area. To learn more, visit our website.


Young Adults will:

  • Gain skills for using their voice,
  • Understand the importance of making connections and building relationships,
  • Build goals for the future,
  • Learn about how to make a plan, and
  • Get tips for finding and working with agencies that can give support


Parents/family will:

  • Learn how their role in their child’s life is changing,
  • Get tips for teaching their young adult how to speak up,
  • Gain tools and strategies for making positive plans for the future, and
  • Learn how to support their young adult to navigate successfully through agencies and disability support systems


Sessions every Monday beginning November 6th through December 4th

Parents and their young adults are required to attend each session.

South Dakota Parent Connection is excited to share this year's date for our annual family holiday event, Cookies & Cocoa. This event allows families of children with disabilities to enjoy holiday festivities in an accommodating setting with supports. Last year we were so happy to see close to 100 families enjoying time together with Santa! Visit our website for more information.


Come enjoy this year's event with us.

  • Santa and his helper, Buddy, will be there all day to take their picture with all the kids.
  • The University of South Dakota occupational and physical therapy students will provide some fun sensory-friendly activities and games.
  • The holiday spirit will ring loud and clear with the live music provided by Vicki Stewart.
  • There will be plenty of sweet treats and warm cocoa for everyone to enjoy.
  • Raffle items will be available for those looking to do some holiday shopping.
