Come on in, the water’s fine!
Speaker and coordinator - Sean Dunham
On Sunday, September 10th we'll be coming together after our summer hiatus. We will celebrate together, welcoming old and new friends as well as looking forward to the excitement of the upcoming year. We will be holding a water ceremony as part of the service. This is a traditional UU ritual that reminds us that no matter how far apart we are, or how we gather, we are connected by unseen, yet real threads of communion within our Fellowship. The ceremony serves as a symbolic reminder of our individuality, our interconnectedness, and our existence within the interdependent web of all existence.
Please consider bringing a small amount of water with you for the ceremony. The water can come from anywhere – the Mississippi River, Lake Bemidji, your rain gauge, or your well. We will also have water available at the Peace Center.
Carolyn Towler is providing music. We look forward to seeing you all there!
There will be a potluck after the service today, so please bring a dish to share.

Being Welcoming
speaker - David Leidl
coordinator - Maggie Carlson
David’s background is that of a Franciscan brother. In an ironic turn, he ended that assignment after 11 years, requesting dispensation from vows, and leaving religious life after 33 years.
David now has an active practice as a spiritual director. He is a musician, potter, artist, gardener, cook, and baker.
Currently, David provides respite care and individualized support for people living with dementia. He is in the process of seeking a publisher for his book, Remembering Our Future: Spiritual Life and the Dementia Experience.
David will speak today about the importance of learning about being welcoming from our experiences of daily life with the natural world and those we sometimes believe we have lost to Dementia.

The Door Coffeehouse
speaker - Joyce Day
coordinator -
HUUF is welcoming Joyce Day to speak to us about a unique shelter for people located in La Porte. Several people from our fellowship have enjoyed visiting The Door Coffee in Laporte, MN. There they met Joyce who informed them that the shop helps support people in need through a program called Level Ground. They recommended the owner of the shop speak to us about this ministry.
"Level Ground’s mission is a Gospel of Jesus Christ mission providing basic needs and resources for life changing programs for those in need. We are a 30 day transitional shelter for those looking for a hand up to their next step.
Level Ground empowers people by offering resources for lasting change to break the cycle of poverty and addiction. Level Ground offers hope to the hopeless, healing to the broken, life to the lifeless and peace to the chaos. We want to help others find refuge and restoration and build healthy relationships. "
We hope to see you there. Feel free to invite people you know who may be interested in supporting people in need.
