PETIT WEEK IN WINE | February 8th - February 11th 2024

TASTING FLIGHT FEATURING:

Moffett Vineyards

Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs & Chadonnay

This week we are headed up the coast to Oregon's Willamette Valley. Join us as we showcase one of the most under-the-radar winemakers in the Pacific Northwest, Trent Moffett, and his delicious wines from Moffett Vineyards.

This family-owned, small-production winery captures the allure of Old World Pinot Noir with the distinctive signature of Oregon vinifera fruit. Refined and full of expression, these are wines to definitely incorporate into your cellar rotation.

The curated $28 Tasting Flight starts with a 100% Wente Clone Chardonnay sourced from Malliris Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains and progresses into Pinot Noir with a Willamette Valley AVA bottling, followed by two distinct single-vineyard selections from Eola-Amity and the reknowned Dundee Hills.

Think immersive tasting that not only promises a delightful exploration of flavors, but also serves as an enjoyable and educational opportunity to delve into the nuances of the Willamette Valley's sub-appellations.

Thanks to Trent Moffett's keen winemaking sense - trained over decades of viticulture in Napa Valley with his parents - these wines posses the character and vitality of a seasoned winemaker.

And for those that want to hear directly from Trent, he will be hosting an exclusive Meet & Greet & Tasting TONIGHT from 6-7:30PM. If your schedule allows, don't miss the chance to listen first-hand from Trent as he recounts the ins and outs of the family winemaking business and his pursuit of the ultimate Pinot Noir.

Reserve your spot HERE

(Ticket price includes the four wine tasting and an assortment of European cheeses and charcuterie from our friends at Orrman's Cheese shop Uptown).

And if you can't make tonight, the tasting flight (sans Trent) continues all weekend! For further details on this week's tasting flight, including hours and featured wines, please continue reading.

Cheers & see you soon -

Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot

Bourgogne Blanc 'Les Haut des Champs' 2021

A favorite Burgundy producer of mine, from a parcel on the southeastern end of Chassagne-Montrachet, this wine now passes its élevage in stainless steel tank to preserve its freshness. It shares the broad shoulders and dense texture of the wines of Chassagne. Bottled twelve months after the harvest, this wine establishes the base-line for the clean, linear style which Jean-Marc Pillot is known for in his highly allocated white burgundy.

Just in this week and won't last through the weekend.

Moffett Vineyards traces its legacy to the Livingston Moffett Winery, which was founded in 1976 in the heart of the Napa Valley by Trent Moffetts’ parents, Diane and John Livingston. For 22 years Trent helped grow the family winery from the cellars to the marketplace. Upon their retirement and sale of the winery in 2005, a generational transition was made by Trent into his successor Moffett Vineyards.

For 9 years his estate winery was located and functioned atop Howell Mountain above the Napa Valley. Here the seed of Trent’s love for the Pinot Noir grape germinated. Trent traces this passion to his early years when one Thanksgiving his father opened a 1982 Mount Eden Pinot Noir from the Santa Cruz Mountains. Some years later he worked on the New Zealand south island with famed winemaker Grant Taylor at Gibbston Valley winery making highly acclaimed Pinot Noir. The seed was ready to grow!

With their new dream of pursuing the ultimate Pinot Noir, Trent and Colleen Moffett with their three small children decided in 2014 to relocate to the northern Willamette Valley. Now with the help of Drew Voit at Harper Voit winery, Trent is making 4 different Pinot Noirs from 3 different Willamette Valley sub-appellations. At the same time, the connection with Napa Valley still plays a major part in Moffett Vineyards production and these wines are usually available at the winery.

This Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a great introduction to Trent Moffett's style... great aromatics with a refreshing and layered palate.
