Main Street East Extension Open House

Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024

The City of Buda is hosting an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 31 to share preliminary plans for the Main Street East Extension project. Join us anytime from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at Buda City Hall to learn more about the proposed improvements and share your feedback! The materials shared at the in-person open house will also be available online at BudaBonds.com.

Talley Loop and RM967 Projects Open House

Thank you for your participation in the Talley Loop and RM967 projects open house that was held on Dec. 4, 2023. The project team shared project background information and the preliminary designs for improvements. The team enjoyed speaking with the community and collecting feedback. We hope to see you at the next event!

Upcoming Meetings: Buda Bond Oversight Committee (BBOC)

There will be no BBOC meeting held in December in observance of the upcoming holidays. The BBOC will hold their next meeting on Monday, Jan. 22 at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. BBOC meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to join us to learn more about the 2021 Buda Bonds projects!

Project Updates and Milestones

Austin Street Reconstruction

On Jan. 3, 2024, City Council selected the design firm, Halff Associates, Inc., for the Austin Street Reconstruction project. They expect to begin working on preliminary design mid-January 2024.

Halff's subconsultant, Zamora LLC will be collecting survey data on Austin Street the week of Jan. 22, 2024. Make sure to watch out for survey crews in the area.

Robert S. Light Boulevard

The overall project from IH-35 frontage road to South Loop 4 is substantially complete. The City, County, and TxDOT are collaborating in the design development stage for a traffic signal at the Robert S. Light and Main Street/S. Loop 4 intersection.

City Park Parking Lot

Doucet & Associates finalized construction plans for the City Park Parking lot in late-October 2023. The project was released for bidding in early December 2023.

After City Council’s evaluation, the construction contract was awarded to Harris Road Company of Wimberley, Texas on Jan. 3, 2024. Construction may begin early-mid February 2024 and is expected to be completed by May 2024, weather permitting.

Onion Creek Trail

Freese and Nichols, Inc., is working on finalizing the trail alignment north of FM967, including environmental evaluations, hydrologic, and hydraulic analysis.

The final construction plans are expected to be completed early 2024 with bidding to occur in Spring 2024 and construction likely to begin in Summer 2024.

Capital Improvement Project Updates

Bella Vita Bridge and Sidewalk Project is Complete!

The City of Buda ended 2023 by completing the Bella Vita bridge and sidewalk. This addition will provide access for individuals who have disabilities and improve pedestrian connectivity with the Downtown Buda area. We extend our thanks to the City's Public Works Department for their hard work and contributions.
