Dear Families of the MS 104 Community:

I hope this message finds everyone doing well. Over the last few weeks, we have been welcoming prospective families in to our school to learn about all we have to offer our students. Part of these visits includes brief visits to some of our classrooms. I have received consistent positive feedback about how impressed families with our facility, teaching staff, and students. While I am not surprised to hear that families are impressed with our school, its always nice to be reminded of what a wonderful school community we have. I have also enjoyed hearing our students enthusiastically share their experiences as a 104 middle schooler and discuss the things that they are learning about in their classes. I appreciate our entire community's efforts in fostering the warm and welcoming environment within our school. It has a huge impact on the experiences of students, staff, and families.

Please see some updates and announcements below.

Have a great rest of the day!

Sincerely,

Rocco Macri, Principal

Boo-Ruch Halloween Party this Friday, October 27th!

It's that time of year again! Our annual Boo-Ruch Halloween Party will be held during the school day this Friday, October 27th. Each grade will be treated to 90 minutes of fun in our yard. Sixth grade will attend periods 1 and 2, seventh graders will attend periods 3 and 4, and eighth graders will attend periods 6 and 7. Seventh and eighth graders will have their lunch during their time at the party, while sixth graders will have lunch during period 5. Classes in split houses will attend the party with their grade level peers.

The party will include a DJ, two photo booths, inflatable games, arts and crafts, water tattoos and more! School swag will also be on sale during the party.

All students and staff are encouraged to wear their best Halloween costumes to the party. Masks and props are not permitted, but all other costumes and accessories are welcome!

There are still some volunteer slots open. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please sign up here. Volunteering for student events is a great way to get involved in and support the school!

I look forward to our Halloween celebration and having fun with our students and staff!

I-Ready Report Distribution on Friday, November 3rd

As previously announced, all students took the I-Ready academic screener assessments in ELA and Math over the last few weeks. These assessments do not have an impact on students' report card grades and are utilized in ways that allow our team to develop instructional plans that meet the needs of our students.

Reports on student performance on these assessments will be distributed to at the end of the day on Friday, November 3rd. These reports allow parents to have an understanding of how their child performed on the assessments and are meant to ensure that they are informed about their child's progress. As a reminder, these assessments do not have any bearing on a child's grade point average and serve as one of the multiple measures that our school utilizes student progress. Students will take these assessments two more times this school year, which will allow us to consistently monitor our students' progress over time.

Please be sure to check with your child next Friday to ensure they received their report.
