AGs IN THE NEWS
Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares announced his office “secured an $80 million settlement agreement with Monsanto Co. for environmental contamination in the Commonwealth caused by their distribution of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).”
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the filing of a lawsuit ”against the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority following repeated warnings and demands for action from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) related to the Airport’s PFAS contamination.”
Alaska Attorney General Treg Taylor announced the State of Alaska “filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Alaska to challenge the final repeal of the 2020 Alaska Roadless Rule by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service.”
Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser announced that Safe2Tell, a violence intervention and prevention program for students to anonymously report threats to their own and others’ safety, received 1,468 reports in August, a 37% increase when compared to August 2022.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that an individual was sentenced “to 60 years in prison after entering a guilty plea to Voluntary Manslaughter and Carjacking resulting in Great Bodily Injury.”
Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry announced a settlement “to resolve a lawsuit with online personality Dana Chanel and Philadelphia-based companies co-owned and promoted by the influencer.”
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced he is suing “a fourth Columbus used-car dealership for allegedly rolling back odometers and selling salvaged vehicles without telling its customers about it.”
Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced a lawsuit against Vancouver nonprofit Noble Foundation and its founder and executive director. The lawsuit asserts that “the nonprofit misappropriated or failed to account for $1 million in charitable grants the foundation received to serve communities of color in southwest Washington.”
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey “filed suit against Dollar General for deceptive and unfair pricing in its more than 600 retail stores throughout the state.”
District of Columbia Attorney General Brian Schwalb announced the names of 30 awardees who will be recognized at the 2023 Right Direction Awards - an initiative celebrating the resiliency, leadership, and achievements of District youth and emerging adults. 
Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird announce her office sued Biologics Health, LLC, Summit Partners Group, LLC, Rylee Meek, and Scott Thomas “for allegedly engaging in fraudulent door-to-door stem cell therapy treatments.”
New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against a travel company “for failing to refund thousands of dollars to more than 100 New Yorkers whose tours were canceled.”
Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced his office filed a complaint against a company, Nfluence, for selling fraudulent Huskers tickets.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced "a $93 million settlement with Google resolving allegations that its location-privacy practices violated California consumer protection laws."
GAMING
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced her office’s Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division “secured an Assurance of Discontinuance on September 1st, effectively shutting down the illegal Michigan operations of Massachusetts based Golden Hearts Games, Inc.”
ORGANIZED RETAIL CRIME
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced an individual "pled guilty to three counts of Organized Retail Fraud for operating a theft and resale scheme of KitchenAid brand stand mixers from metro Detroit Target stores."
COMBATTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING
AND CHILD EXPLOITATION
Georgian Attorney General Chris Carr announced that an individual was indicted “on charges of Trafficking of Persons for Sexual Servitude, Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, False Imprisonment, Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.”
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the official launch of the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP). “The ACP was created to provide certain protections for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, or those who fear that disclosure of their physical address will increase the risk of harm.”
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced several enforcement actions taken by his office concerning the sexual exploitation of minors.
Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin announced the negotiated guilty plea of an individual to "30 counts of possession of child pornography and a sentence of 50 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections."
OPIOIDS AND ILLICIT DRUGS
Attorneys general from several states who led negotiations announced a multistate agreement with grocery chain Kroger related to its role in the opioid epidemic. AGs leading this effort were California Attorney General Rob Bonta, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti, and Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced he filed a lawsuit “against nine companies for selling illegal inhalable hemp products in violation of Assembly Bill 45, failing to include warnings required by Proposition 65 for all commercial industrial hemp products, and engaging in unfair business practices.”
Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell announced that a joint operation “resulted in the execution of search warrants at seven locations in Lawrence, Lynn and Methuen and the arrests of several suspected Fentanyl traffickers. During the searches, Troopers, Officers, and Agents seized more than 18 kilograms of Fentanyl, two unlawfully-possessed semi-automatic pistols, and a portable hydraulic compartment used to hide narcotics.”
FINANCIAL SERVICES
Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti led a coalition of 22 state attorneys general in writing a letter to the Net Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance.
AGO HIGHLIGHTS
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that he has recruited Kelly King to serve as Deputy Attorney General. In this role, King will oversee the day-to-day management of Missouri’s law firm and serve as a senior adviser to General Bailey.
Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced he has selected Jonathan M. Smith to serve as Chief of the newly created Civil Rights Division.
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen announced the Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation’s drug intelligence officer received a national award for his efforts to work with public health and public safety agencies across the state to save lives and improve overdose responses in Montana communities,
