“Heaven-sent” financial education lifts weight off of single mom’s shoulders

She’s a single mom of two sons – ages 11 and 17 – and her job as a Customer Care Specialist transferred her from New Jersey to Georgia in January of 2021.

That was the wake-up call about her financial situation.

“Life before BCM was a little challenging,” Kendra said. “I had just moved, and in the same week, my vehicle was totaled. I’d broken my lease at my former apartment because of an infestation of roaches.

“I was drowning a little bit, being a single mother and just trying to maintain. I didn’t see any way out.”

Program Update: Budget for LifeTM

Budget for LifeTM is our money management program that teaches principles for financial success. We're proud of the accomplishments in this year's program, and we're already looking ahead to our goals for 2024.

In 2023, we had 35 participants, and our goal for next year is to increase our capacity by nearly 50% to serve 50 individuals/families. The course curriculum is also being refreshed, along with our budget coaching structure to help create a new and improved experience for each participant.

We're so excited to roll out these changes and additions – stay tuned for more updates!

Giving to BCM Georgia changes lives.

This year alone, generous donors like YOU have helped people like Jakeya, Demond, Shaday and so many more find or maintain safe housing.

You've helped people learn how to manage their income and expenses.

You've helped people know that there are others there to cheer them on as they take the next step forward.

And while it's not always easy, you've helped show people that financial stability IS possible.

Through our Budget for LifeTM, Foundation 3TM and Emergency Assistance programs, we can help make Atlanta a caring community where everyone has a home and the opportunity to thrive.

As we look toward expanding programs – and keeping up with more needs than ever before – this time of year, we really need your help. Please give to BCM Georgia today to help make this goal a reality!

Church Supporter Highlight | Buckhead Church

We're blessed with many philanthropic partners, but one of our biggest supporters is Buckhead Church. We are incredibly grateful for their exceedingly generous support, encouragement and partnership in our work!

This time of year is when Buckhead Church and all the campuses of North Point Community Church ramp up Be Rich – a church-wide effort to Give, Serve, and Love area nonprofits. Watch for volunteer opportunities starting in September to help impact the community for good along with Buckhead Church and North Point Ministries.

We had an AMAZING time out on the green – and together we grossed nearly $350,000 for families in need!
