BELLE CHASSE, LA. - The Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement Project announces upcoming scheduled closures of the Belle Chasse Tunnel.
The closures are scheduled to start at 11PM on Friday and end the following day, Saturday, at 12PM (noon). This will take place 9/22 - 9/23 and 9/29 - 9/30.
This closure is necessary to facilitate concrete deck placements on the south side of the project.
On these days, both lanes of the tunnel will be closed. In it's place, one lane of the current bridge will be used for southbound LA-23 traffic, creating a two-way traffic flow on the bridge. Plaquemines Parish Shariff's Office will be on site to assist.
