Update Regarding the Nixa Aquatics Center

The Nixa Parks & Recreation department continues working to repair and improve the pool at the Nixa Aquatics Center. We anticipate construction work on the repairs and improvements to begin in March. We do not yet have a timeline for completion, but we continue to gather materials and work with construction contractors to try to complete the project as fast as possible without compromising the quality of the work. However, we are excited to announce that a splash pad area will be added!

Last pool season, once we found out the pool was leaking and had to be closed, we worked to try to resolve a significant leak in the pool. Unfortunately, we learned those first repairs did not stop the leak and we discovered much more work would be required. In the fall of 2023, we hired a pool engineering company to work with staff to develop the plans necessary to replace all the underground water piping for the pool.

The replacement of these underground pipes will ensure the pool sees many more years of service for the community. Along with the pipe replacement, city council also approved several upgrades and other renovations. These renovations include an in-water play area with play structure, more concrete pool decking with shade structures and seating, and upgrades to the behind-the-scenes mechanical system of the pool. A brand-new splash pad will also be added as an expansion of the Aquatics Center.

We hope you are as excited as we are for the future of the Nixa Aquatics Center, and we look forward to having the community back in the pool as soon as possible. Please stay tuned for more updates.

Basketball Clinic with Stan Jacocks: Sponsored by Land O'Frost

Get ready for the basketball clinic! This clinic will be teaching basic and advanced basketball skills and is hosted by Stan Jacocks. Stan has an extensive background playing and coaching basketball. He played in college at CBC, was an assistant men’s and head women’s coach at Baptist Bible College, assistant coach for the Evangel University men’s basketball team, and is currently an assistant coach for Nixa High School.  

Registration: Ends March 11th or until maximum capacity.

Date: March 12th, 2024

Time: 1st-4th grade 1:00pm-2:30pm or 5th-8th Grade 3:00pm – 4:30pm

Location: The X Center

Open To: Kids in 1st - 8th grade

Easter Egg Hunt: Sponsored by Mac Dental

The Easter Bunny is coming to town! On Saturday, March 30th, join us and our event sponsor, Mac Dental, for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny will be hopping around for pictures too! Don't miss the fun--including face painting, inflatables, a helicopter egg drop, games, and more! The event begins at 9:30 am with activities running until 11:30 am. The Easter Egg Hunt and the activities are free. Food trucks will have items available for purchase.

Make sure you arrive early for your age division’s hunt time!

Toddler Time at The X Center

Join us on Wednesdays at 10:30 am at The X Center for Toddler Time! The program will feature activities like animal encounters (2nd Wednesday of each month), arts and crafts, book readings, sensory bins, dance parties, and open gym. The fee is $3 per child and kids 1 and under are free. 

GMHMA Martial Arts

Join Grandmaster Han's World Youn Wha Ryu Tae Kwon Do! The classes are for all skill levels and will focus on being patient, being polite, being alert, being brave, doing your best, and respecting yourself and others while learning martial arts.

Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Time: 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Open To: Ages 5 years old - Adult

Location: The X Center

Fees: $50 per month tuition ($60 start up cost, includes uniform, payable to GMHMA Springfield at the first class).

Pickleball

Play the fast growing and popular game of Pickleball! Open play is held Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and Fridays from 7 am to 10 am at The X Center. The fee is $5 per day and members of The X Center are free.

Indoor Garage Sale

The Indoor Garage Sale will take place on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm. Entrance is FREE to the public.

Open Interviews for Summer Jobs

Looking for a summer job? Join the Nixa Parks team and make a different in your community! Nixa Parks and Recreation will be hosting open interviews on Wednesday, March 20th from 3:30 - 6 pm at The X Center.

Art Classes

Painting Junkie is excited to be teaching painting classes to kids in grades 2-6. In the classes, join us in following step by step instructions painting with Ms. Debbie of Painting Junkie. You will be able to customize your painting with your own colors and embellishments to make it your own in the end. Debbie Hightower is a retired teacher who loves kids and art. Her mission is showing everyone they are artists especially when they don’t believe it themselves. All the supplies will be provided. Please dress your child in clothes that can get dirty. 

Registration: Ends the Tuesday prior to the class date or at maximum capacity. Space is limited, please register early!

Tuesday, March 26th

Class Time: 6 pm - 7:30 pm

Who: Kids in 2nd - 6th Grade.

Fees: $20 per participant, per class.

2024 Dog Park Passes & City Dog Tags

It's time to renew those dog park passes and city dog tags for our furry family members for 2024!

Dog park passes and city dog tags for 2024 are now available to purchase at The X Center, Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 5 pm. The X Center is located at 701 N Taylor Way, Nixa, MO 65714.

Dog Park passes are $20 (two dog maximum) and require proof of vaccination for Rabies, Parvo, Distemper, and Bordetella. City dog tags are required for those pups who live inside city limits and are $2 (if spayed or neutered) or $3 (if not spayed or neutered).

Adult Co-Ed Volleyball

Registration for Adult Co-Ed Volleyball and ends April 10th. Late registration will be held April 11th - 14th with a $10 late fee. The team fee is $185 per team. Games will be played on Mondays, April 22nd - May 20th and Tuesday, May 28th. Space is limited to 8 teams. If you are interested in playing and do not have a team, let us know by calling 417-725-5486 or send an email to info@nixaparks.com.

Spring Break Camp

While Nixa is out of school for Spring Break--join us, at The X Center, for a camp full of fun and awesome activities. Registration ends March 11th. Camp will be held Monday through Friday, March 11th - 15th, from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. The program is open to kids ages 5 years old (must currently be enrolled in Kindergarten) - 6th grade. The fees for the program are as follows (per day): Members $17, Nixa Residents $22, Non-Residents $27. Please send a sack lunch and two snacks each day! 

Baseball / Softball / T-Ball: Session 1

This is an instructional league that has been designed to continue a child’s all around development from t-ball to baseball or softball. Each division is a progressional step up from the previous division.

Season Dates: The six game season begins the week of May 6th. Practices begin the week of April 22nd.

Open To: The program is open to boys and girls ages 3 years old to currently in 6th grade (Must be 3 years old by May 6th).

Location: Rotary Park and Nixa Schools. 

Fees: Members $45, Nixa Residents $50, Non-Residents $60.

Registration: Ends on April 3rd. Late registration from April 4th - 7th, with a $10 additional late fee. Or until maximum capacity of 900 participants.

Game Days:

3&4 year old T-Ball: Thursday evenings.

5 year old/Kindergarten T-Ball and/or Coach Pitch: Saturday mornings.

1st/2nd grade (boys): Monday evenings.

1st/2nd grade (girls): Tuesday evenings.

3rd/4th grade (boys and girls): Tuesday evenings.

5th/6th grade (boys): Monday evenings.

5th/6th grade (girls): Thursday evenings.

*Game nights are subject to change.

Tennis Lessons with Coach Ray Still

Former collegiate coach, Ray Still, will instruct each participant and help build proper form and technique of each participant. The non-contact, safe sport of tennis is great in terms of health and fitness. Tennis also develops hand-eye coordination, balance, and body coordination. Tennis nurtures work ethic and discipline, all the while teaching young players responsibility and sportsmanship. Lessons will be held April, May, June, July, August, and September on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Open to ages 6 years old and older. Registration is $50 per four week session.

April's lesson registration ends March 31st and lessons will be held April 2nd - 25th.
