Hey, What's Your Story?

Video Storytelling

We live in a world where visual storytelling is a must. Nonprofits, donors, and even professional advisors need to tell their (almost always) compelling story, what better way than via ubiquitous video? See this excellent article directly below on this important topic, and then, read about three experts, their corresponding focus areas, and why their work is essential!

Jason Ellinger

Jason is the co-founder of Beard & Bowler Productions---commercial filmmakers whose mission is to share impactful stories that will inspire others to action. These stories are usually contained within the walls of non-profits, & Jason's firm helps these nonprofits increase awareness and then revenue toward their mission. Ben Golding

Ben is President and CEO at Advancement Resources, Inc., the nation's leading provider of research-based development training. AR's extensive curriculum features targeted, robust workshops designed to create powerful learning experiences that help participants build their organization’s culture of philanthropy. AR also creates masterful donor story videos! See a sample here of an older couple sharing some deep emotions:

Kerri Feazell

Kerri is Managing Principal of Authentic Advisor Video. She works with the best network of marketers and other experts in the field to support a professional advisor's video strategy. AAV is laser-focused on two things: making incredible video content and helping advisors cut through the noise to communicate their genuine human authenticity. See an interesting client testimonial video here:

For Nonprofits: A Vision Statement represents the future you intend to create: how your nonprofit is going to change the world! Here are 30 amazing vision statements to help model yours after...and note how short but powerful they are: 30 Example Nonprofit Vision Statements (topnonprofits.com)

For Donors: Do you know that if you are age 70.5 or older, you can donate up to $100K per year from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) directly to your favorite nonprofit without it touching your taxable income? See a nicely done piece from Fidelity about Qualified Charitable Distributions (otherwise known as QCDs) here: Qualified Charitable Distribution | Fidelity Charitable

For Professional Advisors: Fidelity also says that firms that offer charitable planning are rewarded financially by their clients at 6x the level of assets of those firms that do NOT offer charitable planning. And, firms that offer charitable planning had 3x the median organic growth of those that do NOT offer charitable planning. Sounds like a good business reason to talk about philanthropy!
