The Messenger of St. Mark's | Epiphany | January 11, 2024

For your thought:

[D]o you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

  --1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Sign Up for the Take Them a Meal Ministry

Take Them a Meal is an important ministry of hospitality, nourishment, and pastoral care within our community.

If you are willing and able to prepare or purchase delicious food and deliver it to households that are experiencing a time of pastoral need, please contact Sherry Reeder (email). You have control over how often - and when - you would like to contribute, but by contacting Sherry you'll be added to the contact pool and notified when a need arises.

The ministry is organized via email and a very helpful website called, Take Them a Meal. This ministry allows us to reach out to our very own community in loving care when they need a little help. It allows people to commit to a particular moment to serve when they are available. Our community has many gifts within it and cooking is one of them. We want to thank you for being willing to share this tangible sign of Christ’s loving care for each of us.

St. Mark’s to Host Asylum I-589 Pro Se Clinic for the NM Immigrant Law Center & Albuquerque FaithWorks

Friday, January 26, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., St. Mark’s will again host an Asylum I-589 Pro Se Clinic for the NM Immigrant Law Center & Albuquerque FaithWorks. The clinic assists asylum-seekers with the completion of the most vital paperwork for obtaining asylum in the United States. St. Mark’s would like to provide a simple food offering for the volunteers and clients, and it would be beneficial to have door greeters working in shifts to direct clients into Parish Hall. Also, anyone proficient in both English and Spanish are encouraged to volunteer to help clients directly. I-589 volunteers MUST pre-register with NMILC, complete online training and attend a remote pre-clinic check-in on Tuesday, January 23 at 1:30 via Zoom. Sign up at the Welcome Table or via email to stmarks@stmarksabq.org. NMILC reports that clinic volunteers competed 100 I-589s and 93 EADs at clinics in 2023, making a tremendous impact for immigrants in New Mexico.
