March is Women's History month and there are plenty of events in the CRISFIELD ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT that celebrate the achievements of women--past and present! We know you'll be especially excited to come see our Lilyan Stratton Corbin performance as part of the Celebrating Women Exhibit and the Soul Food Sampling Event (rescheduled from Feb.) at the Corbin Studio and Gallery! Family Friendly Crafty Bunny Wreath Workshop

March 5 at 3:30 or 5:30

Andrea will guide participants in a crafty workshop to make a fun door wreath for Easter. Children will have a safe project to complete or can assist adults in wreath making. Participants will take home the wreath.  $10.00 per person (scholarships available) $15.00 for family.  There will be TWO time-slots available as we know this will be a popular workshop! The Lower Shore Performing Arts Company presents another fantastic live theatrical event with “An Evening of Oscar Winning Songs” (written and directed by Robert Forester).  They will be holding multiple performances across the lower shore, so don’t miss this one in the Crisfield A&E!  Cost is $25.  For tickets go to:  TicketLeap.com or lowershorepac.org 443-614-0830


“Rhythms of the Heart” Poetry Workshop

March 11th, 18th, 25th, and April 1st, from 6 – 7:30

 In this workshop, Marcus will begin each class by looking at and discussing poems from varied cultures and eras, including haiku. The workshop is an interactive activity wherein class members can bring their work to share with others for positive feedback.  $10 per class or $30 for all four classes if prepaid.  Go to CrisfieldArts.org to sign up!


Soul Food Sampling Event with It Takes A Village

Come celebrate the culinary traditions of the Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District at the “Soul Food Sampling” event.  All the delicious food will be cooked to perfection and served with help from It Takes A Village and Crisfield Community Prevention Works Drug Free Coalition, so come out and enjoy a fantastic evening with friends and family to honor African American History Month!


Open Mic Night at the Corbin Café

Storytelling with Joe Paden: The Chesapeake Watermen and the Saltiest Store on the Bay!

Joe Paden will be sharing stories about what life was like back then. I'll be telling of the people, the boats, the culture, the hardships & adventures of what's happened on the Bay after, and before Gordon Evans opened his store. I will be sharing many stories for the very first time at this show because I’ve been saving them for an event just like this, & you don’t want to miss it!

Gordon’s will be shut down for 90 minutes, & admission will be granted for those who have purchased $10 tickets for this special event.

Genealogy & Family Storytelling Workshop with Joe Paden

March 30, 1- 3pm

Participants will be guided through learning and investigating genealogy and family storytelling. They will become comfortable looking at records from numerous websites. Joe has broken down this process into two workshops. The first is on March 30th, from 1-3 PM, and will focus on records of ancestors born after 1840. The second workshop is on April 13th, from 1-3 PM, focusing on records from pre-1840 research. Attending both workshops is beneficial but not necessary.  $15 per workshop or $25 for both (offered April 13th, 1-3pm) if prepaid.  Go to CrisfieldArts.org to sign up!

Grants for small businesses through the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Business Boost grant programs.

Soul Food Sampler Event (rescheduled from Feb.)


Join us for another "Soul Food Sampler" event to celebrate Black HIstory and Women's History Month here in Crisfield's A&E!


We will be serving up delectable and specially selected dishes, which have a "soulful flair" for everyone to enjoy! Along with help from the youth at It Takes a Village to Help Our Children and Crisfield Community Prevention Works Drug Free Coalition, it is bound to be a wonderful event you do not want to miss!
