Gopher and Mole Abatement

Got Gophers? I once had a gopher cat, and she never bothered the birds. Since I won’t use poison, I tried traps a number of times, but never caught a gopher. In fact, I lost two or three Macabee-style traps which in theory are retrievable from deep within the hole. So when I saw that Master Gardeners Janice Moody and Judith Dean were teaching a class on how to lethally trap gophers, I signed up for it. Read more.

Dividing Native Iris Plants

Topics covered include all aspects of dividing California native Douglas iris plants. Native iris division is most successful if done in winter when new shoots have started to form. Attendees will receive iris divisions for their home garden. Meet outdoors on the library patio (weather permitting) or in the library's Teen Corner if it's raining. No registration is required.

Come learn and share ideas at our New Year’s workshop. Topics covered at this session include life of honey bees, advocating for school gardens, and a native plant tour at the beautiful San Carlos library garden. Workshop fee is a $20 donation which is requested to support the UC Master Gardener Program of San Mateo and San Francisco Counties. Registration is limited to 25 participants, and registration deadline is January 16, 2024, at 8:00pm. Registration is required.
