American River College will be closed Friday, February 16 and Monday, February 19 in observance of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln's birthdays. No classes will be held and all college offices will be closed.

Change Your Major in eServices!
Students are now able to change their major in eServices. The new process allows students or their counselors to make a change in major in the current term if submitted by the March 3 major change deadline. Changes submitted after the deadline will go into effect in the upcoming term. To change your major, log into eServices and click the “Academic Records'' tile.

February is American Heart Month
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, but heart disease is preventable and controllable. Heart disease affects all ages, genders, and ethnicities. Risk factors include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, and excessive alcohol use.
Do you know how to keep your heart healthy? You can take an active role in reducing your risk for heart disease by eating a healthy diet, engaging in physical activity, and managing your cholesterol and blood pressure. This is a great chance to start some heart-healthy habits!

Beginning this month, Los Rios Chancellor Brian King will be hosting monthly office hours at each Los Rios college. This is an opportunity for faculty, staff, or students to drop in and talk to Chancellor King about any topic(s) important to you or your college in general.
Chancellor King's February Office Hours at American River College will be on Wednesday, February 21 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in the President's Conference Room (Administration Building).

What’s an FSA ID?
The FSA ID is a username and password combination you use to log in to U.S. Department of Education (ED) online systems. The FSA ID is your legal signature and shouldn’t be created or used by anyone other than you—not even your parent, your child, a school official, or a loan company representative. You’ll use your FSA ID every year you fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and for the lifetime of your federal student loans, if applicable.
Creating and Using the FSA ID
To create an FSA ID, you will need your Social Security Number (SSN), full legal name, and date of birth. You’ll also need to create a memorable username and password, and complete challenge questions and answers so you can retrieve your account information if you forget it. Set up your FSA ID.
How to Create a FSA ID Without a SSN
While in the past, a Social Security Number (SSN) was required to obtain an FSA ID, students’ spouses, parents, and step-parents who do not have an SSN can now obtain an FSA ID. How to set up an FSA ID without an SSN.

University Field Trip Series
American River College is hosting field trips to multiple 4-year Universities in the Spring 2024 semester. These field trips will include free transportation, lunch, a campus tour, and an educational presentation/panel. These field trips are available to any ARC registered students, however, spots are limited and will be prioritized to students based on multiple factors including application completion date and time.
