Be part of the Conservation on the Future of Our Land and Community! Join us for a unique opportunity to explore the pressing issues of land use, conservation, biodiversity, and the growth of our cities right here in the Central Valley. Imagine a future where development coexists with rich biodiversity and sustainable practices- and where you play a role in making it happen.

This event will feature insightful voices:

Sharon Weaver: Executive Director, San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust, who will share her vision of preserving our waterways and green spaces.

Roman Rain Tree: Chief Impact Officer, Seeds of Sovereignty, bringing perspective on land sovereignty and strengthening tribal connections to the land.

Moderating the conversation will be Bart Bohn, who will guide our panel through a dynamic discussion on balancing growth with conservation while weaving in California's 30x30 goals to protect 30% of our lands and waters by 2030. This dialogue will also highlight the importance of Native stewardship, uphold tribal rights, and honor the deep, historical connections Indigenous communities have to these lands.

VISTAS Capstone Art Exhibit Opening

Saturday, November 2, 2024

10:00 am - 1:30 pm

The River Center

Students from Madera High, Matilda Torres, and Madera South High Schools, spent four months in the River Parkway Trust’s Voyagers: Investigating Sierras, Trails and Seas (VISTAS) program, paddling, hiking and camping throughout the San Joaquin River Watershed. The participants documented their experiences creatively and reflected upon their connection to the local environment and one another. For their final Capstone project, each participant has created a unique art project that represents their personal experience and connection to the San Joaquin River.

Join us for a day of free, family-friendly activities, a Q&A with VISTAS participants, and a chance to be a part of the exhibit! An art station will be set up on-site for youth attendees to create their own river-inspired art as well as fun group games.

Event Schedule:

10:00 am - 1:00 pm: VISTAS Project Exhibit Q&As in the River Center Ranch House

10:30 am & 12:30 pm: Big Group Games on the Kremen Lawn (Hooks & Ladders)
