Our ministry has an obstetrical surgical team on the ground this week in Guatemala, serving women in need. Many times during our primary care clinics in Guatemala, our doctors and nurses treat female patients with serious conditions that require surgery, but sadly, the means to perform these surgeries are often lacking for these women and their families. Oftentimes, we meet women in our clinics who have suffered with serious bleeding disorders and cysts for more than 10 years! By God's grace, we have developed a wonderful partnership with female ministry leaders at our church partners and with a beautiful clinic outside of Guatemala City, enabling Caring Partners to provide these dear ladies with desperately needed surgeries.
But sometimes God changes our own expectations of our ministry's purpose! CPI Surgical Team Leader Rick Lalli sent this text to our office yesterday:
"God works in wonderful ways! Today, our team arrived to the clinic to an emergency c-section. The clinic was waiting for a Guatemalan anesthesiologist to arrive who was having trouble getting to the clinic.
Our team quickly assessed, and Thad, our anesthesiologist, administered the necessary medication to prepare the surgeons for the c-section. In addition, the clinic's current Bovie machine was not working, so surgical nurse Heidi quickly set up the Bovie machine just donated by CPI to ensure a safe delivery. With the CPI team available, and the necessary equipment up and running, Fatima was born! Mom and baby girl are resting and healthy. Thank God for the CPI surgical team, and their quick response and willingness to serve, in Jesus' Name!"
