CAN and Lincoln Consolidated Schools in Ypsilanti first started partnering together when CAN's Educational Summer Camp came to Brick Elementary in 2016. In 2019, CAN opened an on-site community center, giving us the ability to offer ALL our programs and services, including a rapidly growing food program easily accessible to Brick families and available to all residents of Washtenaw County. Fast forward to today and our partnership is still thriving!

What do Brick students have to say?

"My favorite part is how we get to do fun stuff like art.

I like when the Humane Society comes to visit.

I also like that I get another outdoor recess."

"My favorite part about CAN is meeting friends and we get to make food sometimes"

We connected with Michelle Cox, a valued partner and

Brick Elementary School faculty member. She tells us how CAN's programing has impacted families below!

"CAN has been positively impacting students at Brick Elementary for many years. The program started as a Summer program but was so successful we moved them into the Community Center.

Having CAN close allows us to better support our families because they have many resources. Having CAN in-house, has allowed us to offer an After School Program throughout the school year. This benefits many of our single parent families. The students also benefit because they get individualized help reinforcing curriculum and with their homework concepts. The program offers a safe space for our students to be themselves and support their peers. CAN being a permanent part of our community allows us to offer a Brick Food Pantry to the Lincoln Community. This outreach goes beyond the Brick walls and offers basic needs services to the families in our community".

We are so grateful for our partership with Lincoln Consolidated Schools and Brick Elementary which has allowed us to increase capacity and create an even bigger impact!

As 2023 comes to an end, we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has had a hand in making CAN well... CAN! We could not do it without the many supporters, partners, community members, and everyone in between who believe in the impact of education, stabilization, and community building. We hope you have the happiest holiday season.

See you in 2024!
