FIPPOA Election Results - UPDATE

Dear Karen,

At our recent FIPPOA meeting, at which our members voted to fill four director seats, there was a tie between two candidates who received the fourth largest vote tally. Since our bylaws do not address the process for settling a tie vote, the executive committee met immediately after the election to discuss options. One of those options was to increase the size of the board from 15 to 16 members, and then seat both candidates for a four-year term.

Upon further discussion of this option with both candidates, one of them - Jay Pagano - decided after careful consideration to retire from further service as a board member.

Jay has served on the FIPPOA board for 25 years, ten of them as our president. During his tenure as president, the board accomplished many things, not the least of which was the completion of the FIMI project in 2019 which brought an expansive, new beach to the Pines.  Jay is a valued colleague and a dear friend to many of us, including those of us who have been fortunate to have served on the board with him. There are few who have served the Pines with as much love, vigor and hard work.

Fortunately, Jay will remain as the chair of the AIDS Memorial Task Force, a project he has been leading for the past several years. The task force and he are focused on getting federal legislation passed to enable the memorial to be located in the Carrington Tract. Much effort has gone into this effort, and more work will be required before the memorial is completed. We are honored and privileged to have Jay remain in this important leadership position.

And, of course, we congratulate Anthony Pietrangolare and welcome his return to the board.
