Happy 2024! I hope your new year is off to a great start and that the next 12 months will be prosperous and productive for you and yours. At TXCPA Dallas, we are gearing up for our best year ever!
January is packed with events. Our Annual Meeting of Members takes place on January 30 at The Clubs of Prestonwood, and we hope you'll be there. Also in January is the Young Professionals Group CPE and social event on January 18 at the Dallas Training Facility. Dana Garnett, mediator and conflict resolution specialist, will give her thoughtful insights on how to have a fulfilling life. The next Member Appreciation CPE Series event is on January 19 at the Dallas Chapter facility. On January 23, Giles Pearson, co-founder of Accountests Ltd., will lead a virtual Lunch & Learn session titled Hire Fast with Confidence in Public Accounting.
It's happening! Convergence 2024 registration is OPEN! We are offering Early Bird pricing again this year, and we hope you’ll take advantage of it and enroll now. We have a wonderful program planned, and you won’t want to miss this annual opportunity for the best in networking, entertainment and education. To update you on the administrative aspect of our association following Meg Campbell’s departure as Executive Director, your chapter leadership has agreed to utilize support available from TXCPA under a temporary contract through the end of this membership year (May 31, 2024). Working with TXCPA will help us ensure our chapter activities and programs continue without interruption while the board considers long-term options. Our members and committees will continue to receive dedicated assistance from our chapter staff, Laura McFadden and Dana Barnes, who will be available at the Chapter office as usual. As always, we thank you for your investment and participation in our programs and events. Please be assured we are committed to continuing to provide the excellent quality of service and benefits you expect from TXCPA Dallas.

Your Contribution to the PAC is Vital
As we begin the 2024 election cycle, TXCPA PAC is more important than ever. Your contributions were instrumental in TXCPA having a very successful 2023 legislation session. We addressed some CPA pipeline issues - allowing students to test at 120 semester hours and expanding the accounting scholarship program. We still have more to do to address vital pipeline issues and to protect the profession from ever-increasing regulatory attacks that threaten the CPA license. With many legislative retirements and some longstanding legislators seeking other opportunities, TXCPA PAC will be hard at work in 2024, supporting our friends still in the legislature and making new friends in open races. If we want to continue our successes, your contribution to the PAC is vital. Please go to https://www.tx.cpa/advocacy/contribute to make your PAC contribution. Reach out to Kenneth Besserman, kbesserman@tx.cpa, for more information.
