Our Impact - Employment and Life Skills Program Graduate

"When I first arrived in Canada my confidence was greatly impacted. The ELS program helped me realize that I have a lot to offer. I learned about so many new resources. From ELS, I gained a Canadian reference and confidence in my interview skills. Now I am working as an Administrative Coordinator at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute."

Professional Women's Group

Dress for Success Calgary's Professional Women’s Group completed a 5-day Summer Reset Challenge, with 61 participants. Monica won a $250 self-care gift basket as the challenge winner.

The Professional Women’s Group welcomes all women for free membership, providing access to professional webinars, practical information, and inspiration to support their journey towards success.

On August 11, 2023, Ms. Calgary 2023 (Ingrid Martinez), Miss Teen Calgary 2023 (Matalyn Schall), and Miss Jr. Teen Calgary 2023 (Sophia Koster), visited My Best Friend’s Closet. Ingrid is a volunteer at Making Changes Association, and she arranged the visit to share more about working being done and the impact of the program on teen girls in our community.

Ingrid has chosen Making Changes as her preferred charity and wanted to raise awareness of the organization's contributions. We would like to express our gratitude to Ingrid, Sophia, and Matalyn for taking the time to visit My Best Friend's Closet to learn more about the program and its impact.

August is the busiest month of the year for My Best Friend’s Closet. This August, 135 clients were provided over 3,780 clothing items and accessories. We are in urgent need of clothing items and accessories for our teen clients.
